The other side of the coin...
« on: September 11, 2006, 01:34:00 AM »
I usually come on here and describe my 'good' bowling tournaments and/or experiences. This weekend I bowled a Senior scratch tournamnet in Ft Worth Tx. We had about 100 entries, with big names like Ozio, Eagle, and all the local stars. I've never had a worse tournament. Not only did I execute bad, the lane conditions, and oil pattern took me completly out of my game. This is an old wood house in need of resurfacing. The heads are in terrible shape, and the right side tracked up in practice. I was handcuffed for 16 games. I tried 10 balls, every release I could think of, and got ran over by 80% of the field...
Trying to bowl using a 'C' game is very frustrating. My ball hooked at my feet, either went too long or too short, of hit like a feather duster...while I watched guys throw straight and hard, or loft and spin, beat me like a cheap drum...I got a real dose of reality. So it's sometimes not very much fun, just suck it up,..try and learn a little bit,..and try again. jime

Been there, done that.

Not a fun time.

My 1st two years of Regionals were like that.
I would work my butt off trying different things and come oh so close to the cut or just stink it up.
All I ever heard was keep trying or you came out here 2 years too late.
Now your side has nothing.
Well I learned alot and started making cuts or cashing but had issues with the sunday formats.
My hand would be raw hamburger by game 12 during match play so I'd limp thru it and get less money 12th-16th place.
But I improved and found ways to score when I had no shot at the pocket.

Then I go down to CC this last year for Nationals and didn't score well (1730-1740) when I should have murdered them.

So I feel your pain.
Just file it away in your memory banks and hope that you've learned from it for next time.

If it doesn't have DT or RG stamped on it.
Just leave it in the bag.

My point in posting that was to let readers know that we all go through troubles. Usually all we ever see on these boards are accomplishments,..but it's ok to let guys know that we are all human. I bowl with some of the best bowlers in the world, and they struggle just like the rest of us. je

I totally know where you are coming from Jim...

...had the worse outing of my life this past weekend!  To say that I had no ball reaction would be kind...
