Those of you that have been on the site a while are probably aware I do not tout one brand of equipment over another. In this case though, I had to make an exception. This is also my first review so take it easy on me.
I finally had an opportunity to try out the DT Thing. Found one used off of the site.
Ball had a short 1" pin SO we experimented with a different drilling for me. We centered the pin below/between the fingers and kicked the CG out about 1/2 ". Not sure of the drillings but it should be about a 5 x 4 for me.
I was only able to get about 9 games in on the ball before my accident but what I have seen has really impressed me.
1st nite of using it was in my easy house. 28' guardian, THS oiled to 42'. Big backends. Was able to play 15 to 10 at the breakpoint, shot 690. Factory surface is just a little too strong. Left mostly 4 pins & smash 7 pins.
2d league nite was our tough house. High average on the league is 215. This house is the new lane shield. Again THS, oiled to 38', weak backends.
This is the ball I needed for this house. I was laying the ball down at 18, hitting 12 at the arrows, breakpoint at the 9. 734 with a 300 in the 2d game.
The Thing does require medium oil. Once the track burns up, put it away. The backend on this ball is so subtle it looks like all you need is a minor adjustment. Doesn't work. Ball just keeps hooking earlier and harder.
Most impressive thing about the ball is its abilitly to dig out the 10 pin. This house is notorious for the corners. 6 games = 2 solid 10s.
Just as soon as finances allow, will definately pick up some more of the DT line.
If anyone wants more specific details, email me.
