I'm doing a little survey,(i hate those things too), on what you guys use, balls, drills, surface,.. to combat dry tracks with carry down. This condition drives me crazy,..whatta you use,..je

The only advice I could offer is what I do when I very seldom see it is move a little left/right and switch to a earlier rolling cover and drill " The oil pattern will dictate the move left or right" But it sounds as if it is a flat pattern when playing the track. I realy dont know what the pattern was that you have experienced this on, but when you bowl with higher caliper players you get people in the same part of the lane and will cause this to happen and I pretty much just try to move with them and dont wait it out. I doubt thier is very little I can offer after watching you bowl this weekend but you never know.

new guy how would that ball react when it is still skidding and hits the carry down? I always had succes getting the ball to roll early to avoid over/under when carrydown developes.

Can you help me understand your reasoning for this I might learn something from it.

Particle Pearl, shined, drilled to have relatively little flare.

Ok I didnt read that in his post "probably because it isnt thier" but He never said what the heads were like so I just assumed that he had head oil. I guess one could just guess at what he meant. I cant read mines as good as you new guy. yes I agree he is a very good bowler and seemed to know what he was doing.
But from the plain facts that he stated in his survey he said track area "not heads" and carry down so taking those two into consideration thats how I came about my answer. Curse the peopl with E.S.P

new guy I could see were your answer would be valid if the heads were indeed dry.

Sorry for the confusion to the others trying to make since of this topic.

The problem that I personally have on "dry heads, burnt track, and carry down", is that when I move left into what oil I can find is I either get jump off the dry track, or the ball gets too long and hits weak, or won't recover...In the past this was because of ball selection, drillings, and surfaces. What I'm trying now that seems to be working better, and still needs some tuning, is pins lower, shorter pin to cgs, getting away from skid-flippy drills. What I see that seems to work is a ball that will get to the dry at midlane, and not jump. One ball that seems to be working well is a Thing with the pin under the ring, cg in the palm, and the mb in the track, just left of my thumb,..the surface is wiped with a old green scotch brite pad. This hits the dry track, and gets into a smooth, arcing roll, and still seems to be able to hit through the carry down.
I also have a new PearlParticleVen that I just drilled this way but haven't had much time (or place) to try this...I like Phils idea, smooth suface, low flare, pin in,...this should control the mids, and still get the ball into enough roll to hit and carry...thanks.
