Thing Coverstock...cover prep suggestions ?
« on: September 30, 2006, 11:34:26 PM »
I've had my Thing Returns for long while now and I was was looking for some ideas on what prep to do to the cover. The ball has not lost any hook, just the cover has dulled it a bit...I want max backend reaction !

400 grit and polish ?

1000 grit and polish ?

1500 grit with polish ?

At what point does the higher grit and polish kill the backend, rather then enhance it ?

According to D/T's website the OOB finish is 1000 grit and polish, matbe you should use that as your starting point and adjust from there if nessessary to get the reaction you want.Remember it's a soaker so after resurfacing you may need the break-in period when you start using the ball again.

I tried several surface changes on mine and most worked pretty good. However the best reaction was with a grey scotchbrite followed by a good coat of Magic Shine. Gave me that 7 reaction!
