Vendetta Black Solid - Some quetions
« on: December 07, 2006, 06:32:23 PM »
Hi there, my first topic post in the Dyno Thane forum.

My inquiry: I am generally looking for a medium performance ball (no manufacturer fixed), a solid reactive for medium conditions and late games on medium to oily shots with a track, to replace my aging Vicious Attack (at 1.500 grit sanded, pin above ring about 4 1/2" from PAP, CG stacked, details about me in my profile).

One of the few balls that have come to my attention is the Vendetta Black Solid which could fill the "hole" in my arsenal. I'd like to stick basically to my stacked layout, since it works very well for my style.

Since I never used Dyno Thane before and have no benchmark, I have two very basic questions, maybe someone who uses/used the ball can help:
1) Does not Dyno Thane use Storm coverstocks on teh balls? If so, does anyone know which material is used? The VBS has been on the market for some years now, and it should not be Reactor, or...?
2) How adaptable is the VBS' coverstock to changes? I's surely not use it on heavy oil, (see above), so I tghink about either a compund finish or a higher grit on it. Does anyone have experience in this prep area?
3) How prone is the ball to lose eneryg prematurely in burnt heads (esp. with a shinier surface than OOB)?

Any input on this or general comments about the ball are welcome.

Thank you in advance

Diz, the Black is probabally the most consistant ball in terms of reaction we have, many use it as the Benchmark ball for their everyday league. Its consistant reaction yet strong motion it what makes it the ball it is. It is still in production for the simple reason if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. It is still being made by Storm in Utah for D/T, more than likely for that reason alone. The cover on the ball is a Storm compound or Storm base  but I honestly do not know which it would be. I'd have to ask. Of all I have seen and drilled I have never had an issue with one, as to the covers duribility and the cover adjustments it is done very easily and adapts well as any I've changed or resurfaced.

Consistency sounds good - and why change a winning team? Brusnwick's PK17 and 18 are also "still around", and I am looking for a kind of "old school" reaction like Accu Tread solid, with a medium core.

From the specs the VBS sounds very promising to be the "answer" for what I am looking for- but unfortunately I have never seen one in real life, not say being used.

Thank you very much, Steve!

Bwahahaaaa! No Vendettas available in Europe anymore! Rats!!! Just consulted my pro shop about my order, and the import company came with this sad message.

Nevertheless, thanks to anyone who helped me out with information about the ball! Great positive experience
