Vendetta Black Solid vs. Slash
« on: November 16, 2005, 03:28:20 PM »
Considering one of these. Have seen a couple of Blacks thrown, but never a Slash. Both are spoken of as versatile, controllable balls. The BTM ratings indicate the Slash has a fair amount more overall hook, but I'm skeptical. Any comparisons or recommendations from those who know something of both? Thanks in advance.

They are essentially the same ball.  The Slash is a remake of Track's Triton Elite, which was designed by Phil (newguy).  He took the core design with him to D/T and called it a Vendetta.  The only difference will be in Columbia's(Track) and Storm's(D/T) solid resins.  Either way you can't go wrong.  They're both awesome balls.

so what is the core in the Heat now from Track? Is that Phils, or is the original Heat core actually the Vendetta core?  They look similar but don't seem exactly alike, and doubt they are ....

can you shed some light ?

Bill,

Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I had reasoned as well. Just looking for any real-world comparative experiences.

And Jeff, I think what Bill's saying (and I deduced as well) is the Vendetta core is similar to the Elite / Crunch Time / Slash core, not the original or re-made Heat.

The new Heat is the exact same ball, just different logos than the original Heat. The Elite/Slash has a different core than the Heats.

vendetta black cover is better than slash, i had both the vendetta with similar drills is about 3 baords stronger. But i have new vendetta sniper i like it better than the black vendetta and would recommend it highly to you on ebay you can get a sniper x-comp cheap. I also just got a x-comp vendetta maxx for 63.00 with shipping, so it pays to ebay sometimes got 2 great specs balls with minor problems for way under pro shop prices. I cannot find anything wrong with sniper maybe color since that is the only one i have seen of it, and the vendetta maxx has a 1 inch long deep scratch near serial number that is nowhere near the track area.

To further the point, both balls have the same specs.  Given the same drills on identical balls (pins, top, etc.,) I'd expect the Vendetta to be a touch longer and
more angular than the Slash solely based on the properties of the mfg'er resins.  This is a general statement based on my experiences with both balls.  In my home house the difference was unnoticed, on a THS.  In another environment there may be a slight difference as indicated above.
