Hey everyone,

Never thrown DT, but I'd really like to try some out. I'm currently looking for a good ball for dry lanes. I'm not talking about scorched, as my XXXL handles that. I'm talking about normal dry. Would the red/black Vendetta be useable on such a condition with the right drilling and prep? Any thoughts and drilling suggestions would be helpful.

I believe the Red/Black Vendetta pearl is intended for medium-light/light oil. For light/dry, check out the Crisis. For less than that, look at the Barrage.

I'd have to guess that the Vendetta is intended for medium-light to medium oil, not for light oil, UNLESS you have very high speed or low revs, or some combo thereof.

FOr the average bowler, the Barrage is THE ball for dry to light oil patterns. Its hitting power is very good to excellent, under such circumstances. Pin positioning is not of significant relativity (Keep it in the 3.5 - 4.5" range, as it is slightly more than a pancake block, but enough more to make a difference). It polishes very easily. I like it with a slight amount over box polish.

ONLY in so far as placing the pin above your fingers will allow the ball to go longer than if you place the pin below the fingers. THE MOST IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP is between the pin and the bowler's PAP. That is the pin distance to which I am referring.

The Barrage's core is relatively fairly mild compared to most other 2 piece dynamic cores. It is just one, maybe 1/2 step above a pancake core, which I mentioned in one place already. So, moving its pin outside that rough range would not greatly affect the ball's reaction. The mild the core, the less affect it has on the ball and the greater the effect of the cover.
