« on: August 31, 2006, 08:18:03 AM »
Have had my CM for 6 Months and have probably put well over 300 games on.  Resurfaced it onced back to 800 box now it moves less than it did before i touched it with sandpaper any suggestions to making it hook again?

OOB soakers are known to have a break in period.  By resurfacing it, you may need to break it in again...

I can't speak for the CM, but I have close to 300 games on my Thing Returns (soaker cover) and after giving it a hot water bath a couple of times, it hooks as much as it ever did.... and I didn't even really clean it consistently when I first got it. I'd say give the hot water bath a try.

Maybe it's a Columbia made CM ?

If so, that would explain it

Columbia has not made a CM.
I guess I would ask per your response how that would explain it?

uh-oh beginning to look like a miss match here, better tell him this is the Ok Corral and not a dart match Phil. You don't need to be matching whits with an unarmed person "Boss", get back to the lab, we'll handle your light work.

BM, I get so many new balls from D/T I very rarely keep them long enough to put enough games on a Soaker to have them refinished, until I plug and sell them, that is the first time they get refinished. From what I have seen from that point the ball does require another breakin period, after sweating and resurfacing they are new again. So don't give up on it, it will come back as long as the same finish is applied. Just put the games on it, it will come alive as before.

I have one too with WAY less than 100 games on it. It is on life support. I got this ball because it said it could handle heavy oil. i could hook a house ball more on the patterns i am seeing. I took the cover down to a medium sand look and it just skids right through my breakpoint. how embarassing. I'll give it another bath. any more suggestions?

thanks,
ANdy

Never had a problem with mine.  Over 200 games on it. What drillings do you guys have?  Hot water with Dawn worked for me, and then a 15 gane break in.  It actually handles too much for me.  I have to put it away after the first game.
