Question for Phil...
« on: June 04, 2003, 10:44:19 PM »
Phil,

How often would a typical twice a week league bowler need to clean The Thing?  The lanes are freshly oiled before league each time and it's 40 feet with clean backends.  Not soup or flood conditions.  I basically put 6 games a week on any given ball.  What type of cleaner would you suggest?  I like Track's Clean N Dull because it does such a great job of sucking the oil right out of the cover...

Jeff is it better than Hook it.  I love the way hook it cleans a ball.

Have fallen in love with the THING, but have come
across times when I need to put it away.  Looking for
a new ball for drier conditions, any suggestions??

Well, without knowing anything about your physical game, I'd have to go with the Thing with a pin under finger and cg kicked out a bit to have the ball read the midlane a little sooner.  A second thought would be the Vendetta Particle with a mild layout, maybe a pin high and out and the cg inside.  The particle coverstock will get the ball in a roll early enough to compensate for the carry down.

Be sure to run these ideas by your pro shop guy.  He may have different ideas than I do.  Be sure to let us know what you go with and how everything works for you.

I prefer a pearl particle for this condition drilled 75 or 45 degree 4 or 4-1/2 inch pin. I switched to Visionary last summer and the purple ice is ok but  it's touchy.

Since I don't see a pearl particle from dynothane I was thinking maybe a vendetta black? I know all equipment acts the differently but a I think a highly polished solid will give me over under reads. I solid resin that is real strong and 25 deg may work for me. I just though I would ask the man or any other dynothane users what they think.
