Comparable ball to Hammer's Big Deal
« on: May 11, 2005, 02:16:47 AM »
I've been throwing strickly Dyno Thane since last June and have seen my average go up by about 6-7 pins so of course I've been happy with it.  I want a ball that is going to have a STRONG backend.  The guy that drills my equipment has recommended a Big Deal and I have seen numerous people throw them and they seem to have the reaction I am looking for.  I would just rather stay with Dyno Thane and am curious what ball would match up similar to that reaction along with a drilling suggestion.

Thanks,
Nick

The numbers on the Thing Lives are almost identical 2.50/0.60, both have flip blocks,..however the Hammer weight block is a Asymetrical,..which to me kinda limits the drill patterns. I have one for length and flip,..drilled 5 x 4, pin over the bridge, with a hole 3" below my pap,...

What kind of lane condition do you want to have a strong backend on? If it is Med-Heavy oil, I use an Element AU79 dulled to 600 grit and it works great. If you are looking for Med oil try the red/black vendetta this ball has major backend, try this link: http://www.bowlingball.com/Product/1886/info.html

I know that it's hard to compare different companie's equipment esp. when they use COMPLETELY different cores and coverstocks.  I mean last time i checked Dyno Thane didnt use any similar to a "Gas Mask" core.  What I want is a ball that will retain its energy late and drive hard at the end on heavy oiled lanes.  I'm talking more of a skid/ snap type reaction than anything.
