With a few new balls in my bag, I’m just now getting comfortable with where each fits in for me as I compete in three leagues in three different centers and PBA regional events on the weekend.
I have not changed the 500/2000 Abralon box finish, and I was able to throw some good games during practice sessions on what I considered a heavier-oil house shot.
That success helped the decision to keep the Adrenaline Shot in my bag for recent tournaments, most notably on the PBA Regional Viper and PBA Regional Cheetah patterns.
On the Viper, I was able to use the Adrenaline Shot to play a little straighter and get the angle I desired at the breakpoint. I also was able to move right (I’m left-handed) and throw the ball to that spot or play a tighter inside line.
On Cheetah, there were times when I followed players throwing urethane, and I just couldn’t get my Burgundy Hammer (the new one) to come off the spot. I was able to change to the Adrenaline Shot and get the bounce I needed.
I like this ball when there’s a little more oil, but with the surface as it is, it hasn’t been as good for me when the lanes are a little drier or the front of the lanes has had some play.
There’s usually a place for everything, and I feel the Adrenaline Shot will be most useful for me when I want to play the lanes straighter and need some teeth in the front.
For the technical folks, my Adrenaline Shot is drilled 4 ½ x 5 x 3. No extra hole.
