Alright, here's my update on the topic.
Finally found my PAP and the Obsession is layed out with the pin 4 to 4 1/2" away from my PAP below the bridge. The MB is about 5" from my PAP or 2" down from the thumb and 1" right. The ball is hit with a lite grey scotchbrite(around 1000grit). CG is located about 1" above the thumb. No weighthole necessary. Additional info about my game can be found in the profile.
The lanes were wooden with quite a bit of oil out, not sure of the exacts. It's what I'd consider, your THS just with a lot more oil. Saw a lot of Total Shock and Awes, WMB's, Ultimate Infernos being used.
Anyway, in league, this ball doesn't do much as it's burning up but still hits strong. Definately not the condition for the ball. And that's not why I bought it anway.
However, in tournaments, where there is a lot of oil down and flying backends, I figured I needed something stronger than the weakly drilled Ulimate Inferno and perhaps a particle ball to help tame down the backend. And tame it down it does. If you read my post about the Absolute Inferno on wooden lanes, I figured I needed something much stronger so I whipped out the Apex and played straight down between 1rst and 2nd arrow and the ball revved up real nice and just arced into the pocket with devastating force. I was hooked on the first ball.
After the tournament, I tried out my Hybrid DirtyBomb to compare and this thing did circles around teh Apex, which was not burning up. Yet my Absolute still does nothing
The HDB went real long and had a sharp snap on the back which I found rather unreliable on this condition. I bought the Apex to conquer this type of condition and it behaved exactly as I believed it would. Even though it's an older ball, it still works wonders when an early, heavy roll and a nice smooth arc is desired. The carry was much better than I had anticipated. High hits, were not that big of a problem seeing as the ball has a heavy forward roll which didn't drive too hard into the pocket. Light hits carried extremely well and flush you didn't have to worry about. Overall, an awesome ball for medium heavy on up to conquer flying backends. Definately a keep in my books. And the best thing, didn't pay much for it.
