First of All Let Me Say This Ball Is Ridiculously Amazing!!!!!!

The surface (Traxion 0.48) and the core numbers (2.51/0.58) kind of scared me at first. I was thinking overkill when I saw the design....... Boy was I wrong (In a good way).

1st LaneBreaker: I drilled it 5 inches off my Axis (Pin over middle finger) and keep the cg towards the center of the grip. The first thing I noticed is the smooth transition it has at the break point. It is very similar to a polished GameBreaker only twice as much pop off the corner. Its got that smooth but angular motion I love. The only adjustment I suggest is to knock down the surface with a light 4000 pad. It pushed a little long for my licking my the out-of-box finsih (4000 polished). This is the perfect benchmark ball for any bowler seeking a reliable piece of equipment in an unreliable market of balls.

2nd LaneBreaker: I drilled this one with the pin under my bridge (just over 4 inch drilling). I hit it hard with a 1000 pad and re-polished it. This Breaker has much more mid-lane which is what I wanted. The move off of corner is much more controlled than Breaker #1 but still very strong. This one will be used for more up-the-lane patterns.

All-in-all I would have to say in the 2 years I've been on Ebonite's staff, the LaneBreaker has got to be one of the better if not the best ball I've thrown from them (or ever.....). It does everything I want it to do with no arguments.

A must drill for every level bowler.

Drilled the lane breaker with the pin under the ring finger and the cg kicked out 45 degrees (one inch pin). I left this ball box finish to start. This ball has a smooth reaction to it. Fairly strong but weaker then the game breaker. I have thrown it in my pba league on the chameleon pattern for two weeks now, and can not put it down. I think I will be keeping this one with the factory finish on it and trying some surface with my other one.

drilled w/ pin above bridge(5 in from pap) mb at 60 deg. have slower ball speed than most and this ball gets thru the front clean w/ a strong move on the big end. the deeper i get on the lane the better. rolls better than any NV i've used and less aggresive than my polished Pin Slasher.

JUST GOT AROUND TO PUNCH A COUPLE BALLS, THE SECOND ONE IS THE EBONITE LANEBREAKER. FIRST, I LAYED IT OUT WITH THE PIN BELOW MY RING FINGER AND THE CG SWUNG OUT ABOUT 2 INCHES. SECOND, I USED THE BALL OUT OF THE BOX AND IT NEEDED A WEIGHT HOLE WHICH I PUT IN ABOUT 5 INCHES OVER ON MY AXIS, AND WAS USED ON A HOUSE SUMMER PATTERN WHICH IS A BIT LIGHTER THAN THE FALL SHOT. THIRD, THE BALL IS CLEAN THRU THE FRONTS AND ALSO GETS THRU THE MIDLANE CLEAN AND MAKES A SMOOTH BUT STRONG Predictable MOVE TO THE POCKET AND DOESN'T STOP, THIS BALL WILL BE A BIG HIT WITH MANY BOWLERS. I WOULD RECCOMMEND THIS BALL TO ANY TYPE OF BOWLER, BALL SEEMS TO BE ONE OF THE ALL AROUND VERSTITILE BALLS ON THE MARKET SO FAR THIS YEAR. ANOTHER HIT FROM EBONITE, WAY TO GO ON THIS ONE KEEP UP THE GREAT BALL PRODUCTION.

This is the first review I've done in a while but its worth it.  My Lane Breaker came with a 4 inch pin and 3 ounce top weight.  Drilled it 5 1/2" by 4 1/2" pin over my bridge cause I hadn't drilled a ball like this in a while and its my favorite skid/flip drilling which is why I bought this ball.  Had to put a 3/4" weight hole about 4 1/2" from my grip center to bring it back to 3/4 side weight.  We have for the summer the Kegel Main Street pattern out to try to see if we want to put it out for the house shot and the Lane Breaker just eats this pattern up.  I have decent revs and average speed so I was able to get in around 22 with my feet, about 15 at the arrows out to around 7 at the break and then this ball just turns left and hits pretty hard.  It is a good 5 feet longer from where my Playmaker (5 by 5) picks up with a much sharper breakpoint.  There were a couple errand shots that i got out to the dry too quick but instead of jumping high it sort of slid a little longer and then drove to the pocket where my Playmaker would jump early.  This was the first time out with it but so far I got just what I was looking for.

The left lane we had to practice on had open play on it and the Lane Breaker, at least for me, is not made to take carrydown.  I was a good 5 to 7 boards right and barely getting it to wrinkle on carrydown, but that was to be expected.  Maybe a pin down drilling and taking the shine off would work better, but thats where my Pin Slasher comes into play.

This new core revs up very strong for me and I can see this being a very popular ball.  Not to mention that the color is sweet to look at going down the lane.

Nice work Ebonite!!

Another great ball in this series! I used one of my favorite layouts on this ball. I drilled the pin out of the ring finger(about a 4 inch pin for me)kicked the CG out about an inch and half with a small hole. I took the surface from out of the box down to 2000. My rev rate is in the range of about 280-300. The ball clears the front very easily and gives me a very predictable backend reaction. If you have liked any prior balls in this series, you'll love the Lanebreaker. A must in any serious bowlers arsenal.

Layout: pin above bridge cg under ring finger ( 4 x 4)

Surface: 600

Reaction: This ball seems to be my new go to ball. It has a great combination of length and mid-lane roll that makes it blend out even the most over under pattern. I have used this ball in league a couple times and it gives me the most room for error out of all my balls so far. It compliments my magic touch by reacting heavier in the mid-lane but retaining a lil pop off the backs.

Comments: If you are looking for a new ball for league this upcoming season the lane breaker will not disappoint.

Bowler Specs:
Rev Rate: 500 RPM
Axis Tilt: 8 degrees
Axis Rotation: 35 degrees
PAP: 5 1/2" x 7/8" up
Layout: 80 x 5 1/2" x 40
Intent: Strong backend for burned medium sport patterns

This ball should win ball of the year. I have never had better ball reaction before. I can use this on long and medium volumes of oil. Carries everything it hits. Extremely strong on the backend, whether they are fresh or fried. Haven't had it hook early yet. Should have bought another one. Just a great ball

I DON'T KNOW ALL THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF THE BALL SINCE I AM A FULL ROLLER. BUT THIS IS A GREAT BALL! MY FIRST GAME WAS A 167 THEN A 215. THE FOLLOWING WEEK I SHOT A 298 AND A 691 SERIES JUST PRACTICING ON A MEDIUM LANE CONDITION. IT WAS CLEAN THROUGH THE HEADS AND JUST ROLLED BEAUTIFULLY INTO THE POCKET. I WAS GOING TO GET A CELL PEARL, THEN I THOUGHT ABOUT A NOMAD PEARL BEFORE I READ SOME REVIEWS AND CONSIDERED THE LANE BREAKER. LOOKS LIKE I MADE THE RIGHT DECISION. THANKS ALSO TO ANDY WHEELER AT THE PRO SHOP IN SPECTRUM LANES IN GRAND RAPIDS, MI.

Hello everyone,

I am a lefty with a rev rate in the mid 300s. I throw between 16-19 mph depending on the condition. I have 7 degrees of axis tilt and my axis rotation varies. My personal PAP is 4 7/8" over and 5/8" up.

Ebonite's Lane Breaker is a great addition. I have had the opportunity to drill 2 Lane Breakers and use them regularly.

L.B. #1
"RICO" layout, extra hole 6 3/4 from pin through CG w/ 1" drill bit 2.5" deep.
Surface is 2000 grit abralon.

L.B. #2
5" X 4.5"(pin, cg), pin 1.5" up from midline w/ no extra hole.
Surface is box lightly "dusted" with a used 2000 abralon to break the cover.

So far I've used the balls primarily on THS, Chameleon, Shark, and Scorpion.

On the longer patterns (shark and scorpion) I've been able to square up and play the track area with decent success. I typically use stronger asymmetrical pieces for these patterns so I wasn't too worried when I saw some squirt on the fresh. After 2 or 3 games this ball feels right at home and allows me to play around the same zone on the lane.

Chameleon and any medium length patterns (37-42 ft.) seem to be the best match up for me with these pieces. When there is more volume I'll start with the RICO L.B. and as the heads go and I need to move deeper I'll go to my weaker drilled L.B. They are perfect compliments.

Shorter patterns are difficult to match up with b/c the ball changes direction a lot earlier and is harder to control. If you can amp up the speed though this piece has potential on these types of patterns.

THS- I've already shot 3 300's and 2 800 series' with my Lane Breakers. They offer tremendous versatility and allow me to play all over the lane with minor physical adjustments.

Overall I find that I match up well with the Traxion 0.48 cover. I have an X-OUT NVD that I punched up and use that ball when I'm having trouble getting the L.B. to read the midlane. The Lane Breaker can be a great benchmark ball and is very comparable to the Game Breaker if you knock the polish off. It just reads the lane well and you really have to launch this ball to get it to shoot past the break point. No matter where I go, there will always be at least one Lane Breaker in my bag.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

BALL SPECS

Pin Length: 3 in.

Starting Top Weight:  2.75 oz.

Ball Weight: 15 lbs.

DRILL PATTERN

Pin to PAP: 4 in.

CG to PAP:  3 in.

X Hole (if there is one): None

BOWLER STYLE

Rev Rate:  350

Ball Speed:  16 mph.

PAP/Track:  4 1/4 over and 1/4 up

SURFACE PREP

Grit: 4000

Type: (Matte, Polish, Sanded): Polished

LANE CONDITION

Length: 40 ft.

Volume:

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

BALL REACTION

Length:  Good length out of this ball.  It clears the heads with ease and has no problem getting to the breakpoint.

Back End:  This ball explodes on the backends.  Very angular and carries really well.

Overall Hook:  This ball does pretty much all of its hooking on the backend.  You just have to make sure you give it enough room to make its move.  With this balls strong backend if you miss left, you will most likely pay for it.

Midlane Read:  This ball could probably read the midlane with a surface adjustment.  The polished OOB conditions gets it long and strong.  I have personally not changed the surface yet but with this ball having the same coverstock as the NVD, I would say that you could get it to hook sooner by knocking the polish off with a 2000 grit abralon pad.

Breakpoint Shape: This ball in OOB condition gets down the lane and makes a big turn when it sees friction.  I am looking for great things from this piece.

COMMENTS

Likes: Strong, angular move on the backend.
