Layout- Pin under ring, cg on midline (3-3/8 x 4)
Surface- 1000 abralon
Speed- 18 mph
Rev-Rate- appx 350

First off, I knocked the polish off the surface before even drilling the ball. I did not want this ball and my hardball to be too close to each other. I knew from the get go this one was going to be my earlier rolling ball of the two. The motion this ball gives me is very useful, it rolls very strong through the mids and even stronger down the lane. In comparison to my hard ball, this ball reads the lane about two to three feet sooner but has the same drive and continuation on the back end thanks to the simple core shape. If u have higher speed and less hand the curve ball is definitely more suited to your game. On the THS this ball can be too much later in the night with the surface prep I have chosen, but if you like to throw it hard I am sure you can make it work for a league night.

On this years national pattern I saw a great look at the beginning on the fresh and then as they broke down once again I had too much read in the middle and especially the back part of the lane. All in all the even motion is very nice to have however do not underestimate the total hooking motion of this ball.

Layout: 50 X 5.5 X 25 with no extra hole.

Surface: 1000 abralon to cut the polish off, then light 4000 abralon just to smooth out the peaks and valleys in the cover.

Patterns tested on:

1) THS

2) PBA Viper

3) PBA Chameleon

I was anticipating the arrival of the Hard Ball and Curve Ball because the light bulb weight block is perhaps my most favorite core.

Very driller friendly, easy to tweak, and controllable are the qualities that come to mind when I think of this piece.

On Viper I stood about 10 and hit outside the first arrow and the ball gave me a nice, predictable arc that was easy to tweak as the lanes began to go through transition.

Chameleon I stood on 15 hitting 5 with end over end roll on the fresh. As the lanes broke down I moved my feet right, angled my shot more towards the gutter, and increased my axis rotation and the ball read the pattern beautifully.

I really see this ball becoming my go-to piece as it is something that I can manipulate and it doesn't jerk sideways. I always love bowling balls that have this characteristic.

I can even probably use the Curve Ball on fresh typical house shots here on Long Island as most centers do not oil very heavily and it always seems like the heads hook a lot anyway.

I personally feel that the coverstock preparation gives me that perfect niche reaction as it hooks more than my Hard Ball, but less than my Benchmark ball the Game Plan.

If you have any question please do not hesitate to contact me, and remember that the Curve Ball is sure to strike out the opposition!

60 4inch  30

ball speed 16
pap 5.5inch

House shot,
ball goes well though the heads on fresh reading the midlane without overreacting being very smooth through transition. As the condition did dry up some I was able to move left of 20 and still get a very good look with the ball facing up to the pocket well. I did like the arching motion and still hitting the pocket hard without any overreaction.

Viper
starting out looking at 20 and after the first game I did need to downgrade to a weaker shell with a bigger angle to get more ease though the heads. My slower speed does make getting thru the heads an issue.

Chameleon
This ball was made for this condition. smooth through the heads, smooth transaction, face the pocket and hits hard no matter how deep i got.

This may be the ball I start with in most situations and than shell up or down from there

5 x 5 1/2 pin under ring, cg in palm

Crankers dream. Strong, but only does what you do to it. Great benchmark ball.

There isn't a whole lot to say about this ball except for one thing, perfection. The Curve Ball is Ebonite's latest and greatest ball in the Performance line, and is an exceptional ball.

I drilled the Curve to be the replacement for my Clash, which was my go to ball on longer house conditions. I used a 50 x 4 x 65 McCorvey's Dual Angle Layout on my Curve Ball, and I have been extremely impressed with it so far.

The Curve has the lightbulb core, which is definitely one of my favorites. Very easy to drill, and it gives me a lot of versatility on the lanes.

I applied Magic Shine to the surface of the ball to get a better look with it, and ended up shooting 826 the first night of league with it. It clears the front of the lane perfectly, and has a strong arc and roll all the way through the pin deck.

For anyone looking for a ball to try on shorter sport patterns or most house conditions, the Curve Ball is definitely at the top of my list.

Ebonite never ceases to amaze me with its products, and the certainly outdid them with this ball.

Bowl to Win!

I was given one of these to drill up , and it far exceeded my expectations. Layout 5" from PAP, Pin Under, CG @ 60 degrees, No Hole. OOB Surface. Ball is clean up front, and very smooth/continuous off the spot. Allows you to stay closer to the friction and used closed angles. Useable on a wide variety of conditions, I have only used this so far on a fresh house condition and broken-down house condition, and of the 8 ball I have drilled recently this one is my favorite. Matches up great for me, highly recommend this one with a similar layout choice for all styles. Go pick one up today!

The Hard Ball and Curve Ball belong in the same sentence. These two balls are by the far the best medium to dry lane balls that I have ever thrown. I always seem to struggle on drier lanes because of my ball speed (14.5-15). I have thrown 775 with the Curve Ball and 767 with the Hard Ball both sets in tournament play. The Curve Ball gets long even with my pin down under my index finger and has a sharp but not violent movement on the back end. The Hard Ball goes long but with more of an arc angle to the pocket. If the Curve Ball is to much then I switch to the Hard Ball, if the Hard Ball isn't enough I switch to the Curve Ball. Buy both and you will not be disappointed!

Drilling - Pin below ring finger CG positioned directly under pin (approx. 2 inches)   Rt. Handed

This ball is great for medium to light oil patterns or when the heads burn really fast.  The ball gets through the heads really well and then makes an earlier motion to the pocket.

The Curve Ball would be a great addition to any bowler's arsenal.  Especially when the heads burn up really fast and you need something to get through the front part of the lane.

LANE CONDITION

Length:35 to 38

Volume: Light to Med.

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Likes: This is one surprising ball. It gets through the front so clean but makes the smoothest strong arc at the break that I have ever seen. Very good ball for late tournament/league blocks or short oil patterns.

Dislikes: Nothing at this point.

The new entry level ball frome ebonite is a great compliment to the line up this year. Back to the light bulb core that has had so much success in the past wrapped in the coverstock GB 11.7 which was also a very successful cover stock. This combination is bound to strike out against the compation. Drilled mine 5X70 pin down. love it. Bowl to win!
