The Gamebreaker 4 is the best benchmark ball I've ever thrown.  It's very versatile, controllable and smooth on the backend.  I've been a fan of Gamebreakers for a long time and I must say this Gamebreaker 4 is gonna be a true game changer in the bowling industry.

Likes: The history of the Game Breaker series has been one of my favorites.  I have drilled a few of these gems and will now continue that tradition with a couple more of the GB4.  This ball will not disappoint in any way.  I like it best on medium oil but it can handle the heavier oil patterns as well.  Don't be afraid to scuff it and don't be afraid the buff it.  There's plenty of uses for this sweetie.  Get it in your bag TODAY!!

Drilled my GB4 40x4.75x40: identical to my Omni which is the best ball I have thrown in the past 5 years.  The Omni gives me a very Black Widow like ball shape - sufficient traction on medium/heavy oil with a big round arc that keeps coming on the back end.  My hope was for the GB4 to give me an option to ball down to when I want to flatten out my angles.

I threw 2 shots with the GB4 before turning the camera on to record my video ball review:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvaDeB9wWO8&t=344s

Out of the box the GB4 was just an absolute monster.  500/1500 grit is a LOT of cover and actually had me deeper than the Omni in order to get the ball down the lane.  The softer shape off the friction was good, but I didn't need a symmetric to be that strong when I already have the Omni and the Zeniths.

What didn't make the video was my surface adjustment in hitting the GB4 with a 3k pad.  This smoother finish gave me a drastically different ball reaction in which I was able to move 5 boards right with my feet yet still get the ball to the same break point.  The GB4 at 3k was much cleaner through the front and allowed me to keep my hand further behind the ball to play closer to the track which is exactly what I needed to score on fresh lanes.  As fun as it was to wheel the GB4 through the middle of the lane, this finish is much more playable and makes the ball a viable option a wider range of patterns.

Compared to other balls in my bag, the GB4 slots somewhere between my Hero Solid and Knockout.  The Hero Solid is a little earlier/flatter than the GB4 which works better on shorter patterns, while the Knockout gets further down the lane and sees the corner a little bit more.
The GB4 with the surface change has me 4/2 right of the Omni with a smoother motion off of the dry boards.  I find that these 2 balls really compliment each other well and can see myself bringing these balls to tournaments instead of the Hero/Knockout.

Ebonite GB4 Review

I drilled the Ebonite GB4 to be the big symmetric ball in my bag when other symmetrics aren’t enough through the mids, but I still wanted more length than my asymmetrics. By laying it out 3.75” x 35, I got the “flip and grip” I was looking for with tremendous performance. The GB4 handles medium-heavy volumes very well, for instance I used it Monday night and shot 725 on a THS that has not had many big scores all season in that building. It has performed exceptionally well on sport patterns, like Holman 37’ and PBA Chameleon. This will be the first ball out of my bag when I see decent volume, and it will tell me if I need to ball up to something bigger, ball down to a smoother, weaker ball, or stick with the GB4 and annihilate the competition. The GB4 is available now from Moore’s Pro Shop and pro shops everywhere. Ebonite means performance!

DRILL PATTERN

Layout: 50*x5"x60*

BOWLER STYLE

Rev Rate: 525-ish rpm / Southpaw

Ball Speed: 18-19mph

PAP/Track: 4-5/8 over x 1" up

LANE CONDITION

Pattern: Mark Roth 42'

COMMENTS

I typically use this layout as a benchmark, as it helps keep a consistent read through the mids with a predictable downlane motion.

The GB4 is exactly as advertised (strong midlane and backend). This ball isn't afraid to get dirty and do work in the puddles. It provides a consistent, strong arcing motion at the breakpoint and goes through the pins the RIGHT way.

This ball has been a nice complement to my Uppercut at the top of the symmetric lineup. When those are just a little too much, the Bonu$ Solid and Bonu$ Pearl are ready to take over.

The Ebonite Game Breaker 4 (GB4) is a contender for a ‘benchmark’ symmetrical ball.

The Game Breaker series from Ebonite has been the brand’s most famous in recent years because of it’s performance and value. The core engineers dissected the Enhanced V2 core to recreate the physical shape and numbers, knowing that this was the root of the GB line’s success. The GB4 is a solid reactive, featuring the proven GB 12.0 veneer, ensuring the performance and success us bowlers demand from a Game Breaker branded ball.

With the out of box surface at 500/1500 and the Enhanced V2 core this ball reads the mid lane and digs it’s teeth in the back end to give me a motion that’s more of a hard arc than smooth and continuous. And that’s with an all purpose layout that I chose (70x4.5x35). But don’t get me wrong, this ball has excellent continuation.

With the Dark Red/Red colored cover stock and Orange lettering this ball looks great sitting on the ball rack and rolling down the lane, crushing the pins.

Moderately priced, the GB4 outperforms expectations and the price point.

Be well, shred pins ...and rip racks.

The Ebonite GB4 is your best new benchmark ball. It is an absolutely incredible ball and is your ideal league/tournament (medium to heavy oil) and sport/challenge shot ball. This ball should never leave your bag! It has a controllable shape, but has strong continuation through the pins that will help you carry a lot! The history of the Game Breaker series is one in its own and continues to be a fan favorite! Drilled mine 55 x 4.5 x 30.

Bowler Stats: 18 mph (off hand), 420 RPM, Axis: 4 ⅞” right, ¾” up

Ball: Ebonite GB4

Layout:  45 x 4 ½” x 70

Surface: Multiple

Review:

Ebonite’s GB4 is a true benchmark ball. Paired with a modified version of the tried and true V2 core and the GB 12.0 coverstock, provides a smooth rolling motion on medium oil that allows for bowlers to control and read the pattern. The GB4 finds its success on fresh medium oil patterns. The 500, 1500 Siaair finished cover provides adequate levels of traction on all but the slickest patterns. When bowling on these heavy oil patterns, the GB4 provides an easy read to know you need to “ball up” and choose a ball with a bigger and stronger coverstock.

The GB4 provides a relatively large usability window in its box finish, but as the lanes start to transition and more angle is created through the front it can begin to labor downlane resulting in reduced carry. Switching to something cleaner like a GB Asym provides the opportunity to store more energy downlane resulting in more backend motion and improved carry.

Summary:

The GB4 provides an opportunity to add a true benchmark reaction to the bag through its smooth and controllable reaction downlane. The ball provides an ideal controllable ball motion on medium oil patterns but can struggle to create the desired motion on the truly slick patterns. To handle the heaviest of patterns, a ball with a stronger coverstock will be needed to get the ball to pick up in the right part of the lane. As the lanes begin to transition and more angle is needed through the front part of the lane, more success can be found by utilizing something with a cleaner cover in order to store more energy through the pins.
