i have used this ball on a few conditions now and here is my take. one on 38ft and THS.

mine is drilled with the pin above the ring finger and the cg down and to the right of that. there is a weighthole so the sideweight is taken out back to 0.

this ball is very smooth just like the original puma. its very clean thru the front part and makes a smooth arc to the pocket. the ball retains so much energy, i dont remember leaving any 10 pins with this ball. i left a few 9 pins though. there were a few times the ball went passed the breakpoint and left a 2-8. i think that was in part to the ball being new and no track has been developed.

i think this ball would be better on medium conditions with a defined break point. i played both up the lane and inside with this ball.

Well I never was a big fan of the original puma so I was somewhat skeptical on this one but let me tell you I love this ball. I have the pin over the ring finger with the cg in the grip. Top wt was about 3 1/2. This ball has great length through the fronts with plenty of direction change when it hits the dry. Best use for this ball is on med to med/dry and is now a ball I use everywhere. Great job on this one

Coverstock - box condition

I was a huge fan of the Original Puma because of its pearl cover and STRONG revving off my hand. A pearl ball that never squirted on anything. It was extremely versatile and very forgiving on all patterns.

So now comes the re-release, same core, stronger coverstock to combat the newer denser oils. I drilled it exactly as my originals.

One difference I noticed was the look thru the first 15ft. The newer version is much cleaner thru the fronts, maybe due to its much shinier surface coming from the factory. In the midlane this ball SHINES, revs up quickly like the original, very consistant shot after shot regardless of release. The backend is more than I remembered from the Original, again mite be because of the factory shine. The carry and hit is exact to the Original, this ball rolls very strong on the backend which greatly improves carry.

I love fast revving low Rg pearls! The versatility and consistancy makes this ball playable on almost anything. This ball is the version of the V2 Pearl.

Given as a gift, I was expecting more from this version than the original.. Man I was not disappointed. continous midlane and tremendous roll through the pocket. I had no problem squaring up or playing inside on the THS.. The Trimax cover carries a little better than the Original Puma(Mega-Bite).mmmm now I need the Nitro2..uhoh here comes my wife

14# ball drilled label leverage.
I had an original Puma. I shot my first honor score with that ball and it is a sentimental favorite. I really wanted to like this ball.

I've only tried this out on a house shot. The ball clears the heads with ease and then starts early in the midlane. It reads the dry strongly and early. This ball really doesn't match up well with me. This is a very strong and early reactive cover combined with a rolly core. This is an area minimizer for me. If I send it out to the dry it comes up high. If I pull it it wants to read early despite the oil in the middle and go high. The only way I found to keep it in the pocket is to play very deep in the oil and never send the ball outside of ten. Unfortunately the ball didn't retain enough energy from deep inside and left the ten pin 50% of the time. Gosh I miss the old mega bite cover. It was weak enough to slide in the oil and not over react to the dry.

Overall this ball is unusable for me. It plays like an early rolling polished solid particle. A straighter player might be able to use this ball on a small swing, but I think there are many better choices. The Puma "Classic" is a big disappointment. It commits the fatal sin of reading the dry too quickly.

I am a stroker with med-low revs and medium to high speed. I have a 16 pound Puma Classic drilled with drilling #4 (Axis Leverage) from the Ebonite Symmetric Core Drilling Instructions and box finish (polished). This ball was drilled for medium hook and a controlled backend and that is exactly what it does.

I have only used it on a typical house shot on synthetics with dry outside boards but this ball has good length, is smooth in the front part of the lane and revs up nicely in the midlane with a strong but predictable backend reaction with this drilling. I played the track area around the 2nd arrow and a little outside that. The carry was exceptional. I rolled a 703 out of the box and only had about 3 ten pins to shoot at all night. The ball is forgiving if you keep the speed soft, you can miss to the right and it will come back and carry the light mixers well. The ball is very responsive to your hand, give it that extra turn and it will respond and snap harder on the backend.

All in all this is a great symmetric pearl ball and has a place in everyones arsenal, IMHO. BTW, Ebonite discontinued this ball and they can be had on ebay for about $50 plus shipping...really a bargain at that price.

Well i just got a used Puma classic very good ball go down the lanes very easy an when it hit the dry it is gone. very good with the pins if it hit lite or high it will strike
