- Description: You want to win, and you need the right equipment in your arsenal to do so. With two of the best coverstocks in the GB cover series (10.7 and 11.7), the Hard Ball and Curve Ball pack a one-two punch the pins won’t forget. If you need a smoother arc, go with the Hard Ball. If you need a more defined curve, go with the Curve Ball. Go with both and you won’t go wrong.

Lay out: Pin over bridge with cg on mid line (4 x 4)
Surface: OOB Polished
Speed: 18mph
Rev-rate: 350 appx.

I found this ball to be exactly what any good bowler would want for their house shot ball. No matter how much friction there is the front part of the lane this ball will fly right through it. The simple core however keeps a very even move down the lane. In comparison to the curve ball, this ball is much better suited for drier patterns and more down the lane shape rather than mid lane motion. Overall hook for the two are very similar and mostly dependent on the pattern. I would recommend this ball for and league bowler looking for a ball that might give them a good look later on in the night or a bowler who has a decent rev rate that would like some easy length.

Also I used this ball on the nationals pattern and it was surprisingly very controllable down lane which allowed me to keep my angles tight, so don't rule this one out for tougher conditions.

Hard Ball by Ebonite

75 4inch  25

ball speed 16
pap 5.5inch

House shot

On the house shot at Spectrum Lanes this condition is very high scoring with great back ends. The Hard Ball by Ebonite opens the complete lane with the recovery from anywhere. I love how it gets through the heads very clean. As the pattern breaks down you just move left and there is no over under at all.

For the house pattern that is a little long I suggest the curve ball to start as the heads break down than change to the Hard Ball

Cheetah
Going though the heads so clean allows me to move inside and able to swing the ball. The ball does come back from anywhere. The Hard Ball changes this pattern from impossible to playable

Viper

I did use the Hardball when I bowled in a sportshot league on the Viper. Played twenty five out to 10, the results where the ball hit very hard and created some area. End result worked well.

Layout: 50 X 5.5 X 25

Surface: 1000 grit abralon with factory finish polish

Patterns tested on:

a) PBA Viper Pattern

b) PBA Chameleon Pattern

I never really have much success with the 4000 abralon polished finishes. I therefore decided it would be better to cut the polish off with a 1000 pad and re-apply it.

on the Viper pattern the Hard Ball and Curve Ball are my two new best friends. Any time I see a lot of friction or encounter a shorter pattern, these two pieces feel right at home.

On Chameleon I would typically ball down to a Curve Ball after game 1 or so. This pattern changes so quickly and staying on top of the transition is imperative. When the Curve Ball started jumping too early I immediately pulled out my Hard Ball. I could basically move in one or two boards and open my stance a little bit. This made all the difference for me.

The Hard Ball is about 3 or 4 boards weaker than my Curve Ball and has a more defined backend motion. This can be attributed to the polished finished vs. the matte finish (1000 abralon, then skip immediately to 4000) on my Curve Ball.

As Ebonite advertised, these two pieces are great compliments together. I love the light bulb weight block and stronger covers. I get that nice smooth reaction down lane and the covers provide enough traction to get the job done. On your typical house shot these balls are great choices because you can pretty much stay in the same zone all night with simple adjustments.

Thanks for reading my review, I hope you found it useful.

Drilling - Pin above ring finger CG positioned to the right of center of grip  (Rt. Handed)

This ball is great for medium to light oil patterns or when the heads burn up really fast.  The ball is very smooth going down the lane and does have a nice, smooth arc to the pocket.  I used this ball on freshly resurfaced wooden lanes.  The ball skid through the heads and mid lane and had a great impact on the pins.  It goes much longer for me and then arcs to the pocket.

A definite for any bowler's arsenal.

Likes: Picked this ball up used at K&K in Las Vegas. It was Kelly Kulick's ball during the WSOB so it wasn't laid out for me specifically, but this ball flat out hits. It goes very long for me and has plenty of back end. It doesn't overreact and is clean through the heads.

Dislikes: It wasn't drilled for me specifically so it could have been a little stronger if the pap was closer.

Likes: This ball is amazing. While everyone else is playing inside, I take this 10-5 and the smooth reaction hits very hard. No one is burning up my line for most of the evening.

Dislikes: None I can think of.
