I had one of these drilled up a few weeks ago and all I can say is I love this ball (5x4 pin under the ring finger). All though I wouldn't have picked it up if I didn't get it for such a nice price; retail being in the mid 200's. I'm your basic power player with a lot of turn and speed. So without being bios to ebonite hear are my observations.

This ball reads the midlane very well with a very sharp "turn". All though I somewhat expected to use it on a little more oil. My saturday league puts out a ton of oil in a x-tree pattern but by early second game there is just to much carry down for this ball. I started playing 10 to 3 but found myself playing up the boards leaving a lot of ten pins. But on anything with a "medium" oil shot this ball shines. I generally play anywhere from 20 to 30 with this ball sending it to the dry boards with one of the most predictable breakpoints I've ever seen out of a pearl. This ball rolls a lot like the original X-factor and a little like the monster frenzy only a little stronger.

I think ebonite lost a lot of bowlers to companies like storm over the years simply because MOST of ebonite's equipment was to skid/roll not to say that's a bad thing. Regardless of what ever company you favor, this ball is worth a try. Stronger on the backend than an inferno with a little more midlane read than the x-factor.

This ball is awsome!  It works very well if you have the oil to let it skid far enough, I throw mine across the 20th board and it breaks around the 3rd board it works awsome. first night out with the ball with no practice, 229, 247, 235.
It hits the pocket well but seems to leave allot of 7 pins. drilled with pin placement above my ring finger with a 75 degree bomb, drilled right handed.

I've been using this ball in league and it works great on my house shot. I have the pin six inches from my axis above middle finger. The CG is below ring finger and the bomb is just to the right of my thumb at about 75 degrees. This ball gets threw the heads very good and is clean in the mid lane. When the ball gets to the break point it makes a nice turn to the pocket. When I get past 25 inside I seem to lose a little carry. I start to leave some ten pins. But as long as I stay right of their the carry is very good. This is one of my favorite lay outs and works great in this ball. This has been a good ball on medium to a little less oil for me. I can't wait to try this ball on some of the PBA patterns in our South Region.

This ball is amazing.  When I originally got the ball I anticipated a huge "uncontrollable" hook.  This ball doesn't hook until the last 10 feet on the lane as is by far the most controllable ball I have.  I get amazing carry with it and can do no wrong.  If I pull my shot it holds...If I throw it to far out it comes back.  Seems to have a targeting system in it.  Love the ball.  Only problem I've had with it is on very oily conditions the ball doesn't seem to want to hook at all.  Once the lanes begin to dry up a little you can use it the rest of the night.  I've put 51 games on it and haven't shot below 6 with it yet.  Highly recommended.  I give it a 9 out of 10.  Losing a point for the weak reaction on heavy oiled conditions.

I am totally amazed with Ebonite on this one, I will have to give them the thumbs up with this cover, weight block combination. On the house pattern which is a blend this ball will push as easy as anything I have and then make it's move on the backend. It really reads the lane well as it won't over react when you hit the dry early but still picks up the roll if you fudge it inside. This is the first Ebonite I have thrown in about 3 years so my hat is off to these guys this time on a fantastic ball.

This ball loves speed and is easy to control on medium to light oil lane conditions. If you get lazy with speed you will leave ten pins. If you give it room with extra revs it magically finds it's way to the pocket. Be careful since extra revs will occasionally leave the eight. Light hits will give you a ton of strikes. Shot a 737 within weeks of purchase not bad considering I just started back into bowling two months ago and prior to that it's been over 30 years.

I agree with Jace on that if there's a blend instead of a cliff, this ball will strike a lot.  Probably most used when they're a little drier.  It blends too much for wet/dry conditions.  How many times I have used this ball on the fresh on tour patterns A and C, but will probably put it away after games 3-4, because of carrydown issues.

I must say that Ebonite has really created a nice piece of equipment. When I first used the ball I immediately noticed how low the pins stayed, allowing me to carry most of the light and off hits.  I can use this ball on a fresh conditions as well a drier ones.  The ball is predictable and you are able to follow the oil line left, without having to move 10 to 15 boards at a time.  I recently shot an 817 on a fresh condition, and continued to use the ball following the oil line as the day wore on, without any less carry.  The ball is so vesatile, it is usually the first out of my bag.  It lets you know when you need a little more surface or encountering carry down.  I usually can move a little right with less hand when facing carry down.

I must warn those that do not repeat shots very well are advised to keep the pin below or equal to the ring finger, due to the ball being asymetrical.  I have witnessed a number of killer instincts drilled with the pin above the ring finger, with the ball being over sensitive.

Ebonite Killer Instinct Pearl
2-3 inch pin
15lb's

Overall
Pin below the bridge and cg pushed in just below the middle finger (almost in the track for high trackers). This ball reminds me alot of what the Savage Flip except it has more backend.

29ft buffed to 33ft (bowled on after a three game league 4 man team)
Started out lining up with five board with light grip pressure, and coming up behind the ball. This shot did not work becuase it rolled early like many could figuar it would. I moved over to the second arrow with light grip pressure still staying under the ball. I had little seccess, had to much angle so I had to be right on every time. Moved farther left to the third arrow and it worked great great still staying behind the ball and light grip pressure. This was the best for this ball on this shot for kicking all the corners. Moved into fourth arrow but left a few buckets and some tens (recovery was not enough to kick the tens).

PROS
Greatest wall shot ball. Hooks alot

CONS
CAN'T put much grip pressure on the ball or you will play the hole lane. (this drill is for control)

This ball is drilled with the pin 4 ½ “ from my PAP and the CG 4 ½ “ from my PAP with the bomb just to the right of my thumb, 90* drilling. On a house pattern, this ball is awesome. It does not overreact if you get it to the dry too soon, but it also get into its roll if you miss left into the oil. This is not the ball of choice if the pattern is long or the volume is extremely heavy in the front, that is more for the Killer Instinct, but on a typical house pattern, this is definitely the ball you want in your hand. Could be the second best ball ever made by Ebonite, behind the V2.

Pin 3.5"
Drilled 55 degree pin below ring finger.

White Bread Review:
Comparable to X-Factor long on the skid and strong arc when it hits dry a little less reactive to the transition than the XF which saved my neck from too much whip lash.  Pin action is low and abundant and light hits provide me with a mosh pit mix.

This is a "I'm gonna give you a black eye and make you split blood" ball.  Watch the pins turn yella and pee on themselves. When they see this ball come out of the bag they won't want to come down off the pin rack

2nd Review.
Same Ball same drill

Very soft backend, probably due to the pin and cg placement, carry is very good actually extremely good for this type of backend move usually soft arcing backends leave a number of corner pins but with this bowling ball strikes were more frequent then spares. The 45degree pin under seamed to solve the over under issues I was having in the center I most wanted to bowl well.  So far in the two centers....zzzzzzzzzz....uh uh haruummphh "sorry my review made me fall asleep, so boring, let me go get a Red Bull"...glug glug glug...AAAAGGGHHHHH

THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! THIS BALL IS GREAT! <BOING BOING BOING bouncing off walls>

This ball has carried so well I no longer want to use it, I want to save it and bring it to London Warsaw and Paris to wine and dine it.

Carry is just plain silly!  In one house Bellerose, NY there was so much pin action I thought the ball had Super Ball bouncing action built in.  In the other house it carried but exhibited a refined gentlemanly action.  "Hello one pin would you mind if I nudged you enough to fall into the three in such an angle so that it would domino into the six then ten...thank you so much you are so very kind.  Hello two pin how was your day?  Would you be so kind as so ask your neighboring four pin to fall into the seven pin, thank you so much and now if you will please follow me into the pit, thank you so much.  Hello my dear five pin, it has been so long lets not be strangers and bump tooshies, now go along and ask nine pin to meet us in the pit we will have such a grand ole time.  Hello eight how are you today, isn't it a bit bright here on the deck let us go in the pit and cuddle.  Soft roll but all in the pit.  This is the 007 of bowling balls...OH PLEASE BEHAVE!  CHEEKY MONKEY

The Pearl Proves to be another very good ball from Ebonite. With The New chromaflare not only does this thing look good it reacts good. A very readable ball.  Good for lower and higher ball speeds and diffrent tracks.  If you throw the ball 17+ look for some serious pin scattering.

Drilled with pattern #3, 45* & 4" pin.  I love this ball...it absolutely explodes when it hits the pocket, and even a lot of times when it doesn't.  The ball creates exceptional pin action, though at times it can get a little aggressive when i get lazy with the ball speed. But when this ball does not strike it typically leaves single pins which makes spare shooting easy.
