PAP: 4 1/4 right and 7/8 up.

Drilled this ball 4 1/2 X 4 which put the pin over my bridge cg stacked under that and mass bias a little to the right of the thumb. I altered the surface by taking it down to 1000 abralon then hitting it with light polish. This ball is a great compliment to the magic touch that I have drilled 5X5. The action starts up about 5-7 ft earlier then the touch and has a controlled backend. Probly the best ball i have seen since the gamebreaker. Good job guys at ebonite. Hello everyone,

I recently received my Magic Actions and think I can make an honest evaluation about the ball's performance.

The one I am using primarily is drilled 60 degrees (mass bias) with a 5" pin to PAP, but the pin is only 1" away from my VAL. No hole needed. I have used this ball predominantly at its 4000 Abralon Out-Of-Box finish.

I have thrown this ball on house shots and on the shorter/medium patterns as well.

The Magic Action struggles on drier/short patterns which doesn't surprise me. It basically loses it energy and rolls out by the time it gets to the pins. On medium patterns it works well when I have to get ini=side and curve the lane.

I am a big fan of the Magic Touch, but sometimes b/c of its polished surface it squirts and the break point can be spotty. The Magic Action solves that problem and gives me even more on the back.

I am very optimistic right now, as I feel Ebonite's line is probably as well rounded as I've ever seen it in terms of our asymmetric balls.

One thing to note: if you bowl on lower volume, drier lanes, and/or worn surfaces I recommend smoothing the shells on our balls. I myself am finding that I must smooth ALL of my balls up to 4000 (this means going 500, 1000, 2000, and 4000 for 30 seconds on 4 sides.)

I find that this works best for me b/c I am from Long Island and most houses do not oil very heavily. This kind of surface prep. may be advantageous for high rev players and/or slow speed players. This will enable our balls to retain energy where it's needed most, in the midlane and back end.

I've only had this ball for a couple weeks now, but it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. I've heard some bad things about the Magic series, but I've been very impressed with this ball so far. I normally throw Columbia 300, but decided to get this piece instead of a Full Swing. They seemed like similar balls, but the Magic Action is way more asthetically pleasing.

As expected, this ball gives me a good amount of length, responds very quickly to friction, and has an incredibly strong, angular back-end motion. For me it's a pretty flippy ball, yet it still has great continuation all the way to the pin deck. Kicks the corner pins out very well and handles carry-down surprisingly well.

I would use this ball primarily on medium to heavy oil. On light oil, it grabs way too early and becomes very unpredictable and hard to control. Not an overly versatile ball from what I've seen, but that's not why I got it. My guess is that a more stable layout would increase its versatility.

Overall, I really enjoy throwing this ball and I've yet to shoot below 700 with it. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for something that can cover a lot of boards in the backend. Great work Ebonite!

Rt Hand Drilling:   Pin over ring finger with CG kicked right.  4 x 3 1/2 with no extra hole.

The Magic Action is strong and very aggressive on the back end; therefore, I find it best on medium to heavy oiled lanes. When using the ball on medium to heavy oiled lanes, the ball starts grabbing the lane sooner and has a great continuation to the pocket.  The ball does not loose any energy at all and has awesome pin action!  An A+ to Ebonite!!

I have tried using the Magic Action on drier lanes and have found that drier conditions makes the ball hook much sooner and becomes less controllable for me.  When I encounter drier conditions, I prefer to use my Magic Touch which gives me more length and more control.

I recommend all bowlers have both the Magic Action and the Magic Touch in their arsenal!!!

 

I have drilled two Magic Actions.  First ball is w/ a 4 inch pin, under the fingers, w/ a 70 degree mass bias.  The second ball is 4 1/2 inch pin, over the fingers, w/ a 60 degree mass bias.  The surface on both was left out of the box.

Both balls work very well together and both travel to tournaments.  Ball one rolls up a little sooner than ball two.  If ball one runs into pin carry issues or burns up to quick, I change to ball two and am able to stay in the same part of the lane without having to make a large adjustment.  

My favorite of the two is ball one.  It has a very smooth and strong reaction and is usually the first ball out of the bag.  Ball one is more versatile than ball two.  I recently bowled a 6 game tournament w/ ball one 299-258-201-279-268-268.

The Magic Action is a great release from Ebonite and I highly recommend it.  I am always very confident when either one is in my hand.
