Apex Particle Resin
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Ebonite International, Inc., announces the introduction of the Apex Particle
Resin. The ball is available immediately and cleared for PBA regional
competition beginning January 12 and national competition January 15. The
Apex features a two-cores-in-one design, combining the high flare attributes
of an hour-glass cylinder core and a smoother reacting light-bulb core. The
light-bulb core is offset from the pin at a 65 degree angle (5 inches on the
surface of the ball), creating the BOMB influence. The Bomb is in the down
position, or on the same side of the ball as the center of gravity. This
allows the core to be drilled to create the standard strong rolling mass
bias drillings as well as the ability to be drilled to create the longer,
stronger hook characteristics of a symmetric ball. The Big Easy cover stock
is a lighter load particle resin, designed to bridge the gap between
particle cover stocks and reactive cover stocks. The specifications are:
Factory Finish: 15 micron sanded Big Easy( particle resin; Color: Two tone,
Reflex Blue and Red Hot; RG Rating (actual): 16 lbs.-2.478, 15 lbs.-2.475,
14 lbs.-2.527; Differential (actual): 16 lbs.-.042, 15 lbs.-.047, 14
lbs.-.044; Mass Bias (BOMB): .012; Flare Potential:  high; Length: scale 1
to 10 (early to late) with factory finish: 3.10; Backend: scale 1 to 12
(least to most): 11.8; Overall Hook: scale 1 to 23 (least to most)
dull/shiny: 22.2 dull/ 14.1 shiny; Breakpoint Angle: scale 1 to 10 (smooth
to sharp): 7.5; Best Lane Condition: Medium oil to heavy oil.

just had an apex drilled today to use in a four game throw one out tournament.
was skeptical about it because i don't see any around the house that i play in. my fears were unwarranted. after throwing out a 190 i proceeded to throw a 211-258-267=736 right out of the box with no prep.threw two games on one pair then moved and threw two games on another pair of lanes.stood on 27 out to 12. lanes were oiled medium to heavy and the apex loved it. i don't know the drilling stats because the i didn't talk to dan the dude that drilled my ball. i do know that the pin is above and an inch to the right of the ring finger. i also have a weight hole. when i get the stats and bowl a few more games with this ball i will update this review. as of right now on a scale of 1 to 10 i have to give the apex a 10 .

here's an update on the apex i purchased a week ago . i have bowled three sets with it since i first reviewed the apex and i still have nothing but good stuff to say about it. 671-679-710 are the series that the apex has shot for me. it is by far the best ball i have thrown. good carry . tonite i did leave three tens. i found that i can throw 15 to 5 and the ball races back to the hole or i can throw 15 to 10 and the ball will sit and blow the pocket away.that is when i'm standing on 27. had only one 8 count tonite .the rest were strikes or 9 counts. this apex is still a 10 out of 10!!!

I PURCHASED THIS BALL FOR HEAVY TO MEDIUM OIL. THIS IS THE MOST VERSATILE PARTICLE BALL ON THE MARKET. IT IS A LITTLE ON THE PRICY SIDE, BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BALL TO CUT THROUGH SOME OIL, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST OUT THERE. MINE IS LAYED OUT WITH EBONITE'S DRILLING #1-4" PIN 90 DEGREE BOMB. PIN IS @ 3 O'CLOCK FROM MY MIDDLE FINGER WITH THE CG SWUNG IN MY PALM AND THE THUMB IS DRILLED IN THE BOMB. THIS GIVES ME MEDIUM LENGTH WITH A SMOOTH BACKEND CONTINUOUS ARC REACTION. I CAN GO UP THE BOARDS, MOVE MY FEET GO 15 TO 10, 15 TO 5, 20 TO 5, PLAY ANYWHERE ON THE LANES YOU WANT TO. BUT YOU NEED SOME OIL DOWN LANE, OR ELSE THIS BALL WILL JUMP THROUGH THE NOSE. THIS PARTICLE IS CLEAN THROUGH THE FRONT AND THE CORE BLOWS THE PINS UP. WOW! WHEN IS STARTS TO BREAKDOWN, YOU CAN MOVE TO THE OUTSIDE AND LET THE BALL DO THE WORK, BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO RECOVER. THE SURFACE CAN BE ADJUSTED VERY EASILY. I HAVE POLISHED IT 2000 GRIT AND HAD IT SANDED AS WELL. THIS IS THE FIRST BALL OUT OF MY BAG. THIS BALL GETS A 9 OUT OF 10. GOOD HEAVY OIL BALL.

I have had this ball almost a year now.  I added this ball for heavier oil, something that would grab better than my Matrix balls.  This ball carries and real hard.  I shot a 300 and a 800 within the first 30 games of having it.  After about 5 games, the Apex seems to have lost it's bite and aggressive roll that it had early in its life.  I keep all of my equipment clean and properly maintained.  I have increased the surface fristion and that has helped somewhat, but I would estimate I have still lost about 5 boards of play thus far.  Now, I carry it mainly for short/medium oil because it just doesnt do the trick oil long oil and carry down like it did.

I have had the Apex for just over a year. I got this ball to help me out in the heavy oil at the one center i bowl in. Well it helped got it drilled to go down the lane medium length and the hook it was great!!!!  Shot my first 290 and 300 with this ball. But one day the ball just died, like someone took all the hook out of it. and i clean my ball after every use and maintain it well. I think the ball is great but Watch for it just dying one day. Bowl to Win!!!
Oil is served Best with fingers!
Why does the 8 Pin laugh at me!

The apex P.R. is my favorite ebonite ball. It is the only piece of ebonite equipment that I have that I don't have a constant problem with carrying the corners. I have it drilled max hook so that I can get through the heads without skidding out too far. As for backend reaction, of the charts, for me at least, I have no problems worrying about the ball coming back if I put it out too far. The only problem I seem to have is if I tug the ball a little bit and I fly by the headpin. That's a user error so I can't fault the ball on that lol. I love this ball. I don't really care much for the other Apex's, the original works just fine for me

I just got the Apex P.R. a week ago. That ball is one of the best bowling balls i have ever thrown. It carry's great, hit's like a Mack Train and has never rolled out on me. Drilling the pin is right by my ring finger CG kicked out about 2 inches and the Bomb is 3 inches from my thumb hole great drilling. I would recommend this ball to any one who want's to raise there average and would like a great heavy oil ball.

Drilling: 4x4
Speed: 18-19mph
RPM: 500+

I would have to call this ball old reliable, had it ever since it hit the rack. It gets through the heads nice and makes a very strong rolling flip into the pocket. But I really wouldn't use this ball when the lanes are flooded, it doesn't really grab the lane as good as solid particle balls. Another big plus would be how the ball is very forgiving. It doesn't have any over/under reactions or die to soon. I defiantly take my hat off to Dwight Albrecht for setting me up with a ball that is ideal for a bowler like me. If you can still get one won't be let down.

After having my Apex sit in my closet for the past 16 months I brought it back out a week and a half ago. When I first got this ball I got it for slick lanes and after shooting well with it my house started keeping the lanes dry.  I could not score with this ball on dry conditions so I put it up until now, Second night using this ball I had a 289,717.  After a couple more good nights I was finally able to nail the pocket 12 times for a 300 today(199-215-300). This ball always worked well on slicker conditions. I did leave a few 10 pins my first two games, but after making a hand adjustment and getting a little more loft I was in the pocket the rest of the night.

The pin is exactly one half inch to the left of my ring finger with a little positiv weight.  I was standing on 35 hitting 20 (middle arrow) swinging it out to the 5-7 board and back to the pocket.  Unbelievable hitting power and carry.

Lane Conditions: Heavy Oil
Typical Conditions: House Shot
Type of Lane: Combination
What part of the lane did you play? Outside First Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 14

Likes: The way i drilled it! its a beast!
Dislikes: Dry lanes...... over reacts........

Got this ball cuz i saw it was discontinued and sumone recommended it... I drilled it like this...
The pin is stacked which means that the pin is in the center of the fingers and its above it, and the CG is kicked out
It rolls LONG and snaps back! and whoo does it snap back!

this is a great ball for oily lanes, but after maybe 30-40 games it starts to lose its hook and hitting power, although about a month after i got it i threw a 300 on my first day at leagues at a new house in the middle of the season(don't ask) but it is a great ball, then it just sorta dies so if you have one clean it constantly! i did not do that with mine and it just started to suck so i picked up a roto pure fuel(see review) but the apex is an overall good ball i would give it a 8/10

How many years has it been since I've picked this ball up. For the past 2 years it's been polished and barely came out, never failed in a tournament. After going through some other heavy oil equipment the past 2 years I decided to get this thing refinished back to box condition and couldn't be happier that I did. With our league starting earlier than ever this year, I was crushing the pocket with my little 12 to 5 arc (heavy oil). Everybody else around me these days seems to be more concerned with how many boards a ball covers or how hard the ball comes back. Just flat out predictability with a nice finish here.

This ball sat in my bag for about 10 years before I gave it a honest shot at my everyday ball. It was the ball I first shot 300 with. I let it sit because I didnt like the way it rolled. As I started to refine my stroke it rolled much better for me.

It is always in the bag
