- Description:The Pursuit Series is a Dual  introduction, with a very unique perspective on marketing and  merchandising to Pro Shops and, most importantly, to the bowling  consumer!  Let’s talk about the product first and foremost: Core:  The Pursuit is a Mass Bias bowling ball, with a Mass Bias Rating  of .008.  The Pursuit core is named the Empire Core.  The Pursuit S is  the Symmetric version of the Pursuit core, with a Mass Bias Rating of  .000 and will be named the Empire S Core design. 1) Mass Property Modulation Core Design - This allows Pro Shop  Technicians the opportunity to change Mass Bias properties in the  drilling process to match the shape the bowler is looking for on the  lane. 2) Advanced Drilling Stability - As a result of the unique shape of the  Empire core, you will change the values of RG and Differential at the  same rate when drilling. Cover:  This is the most exciting part of the new Pursuit Series, the  new chemistry!  When discussing the Ebonite Brand, there are a few known  qualities . . . the large negative quality the brand has had to deal  with for years is longevity.  We have a few items that we know will  positively address this: 1) Chemically Treated Surface – As each Pursuit ball makes its way off  of the finish line, each ball is treated chemically in order to open the  pores and achieve optimal performance. 2) Ultra Robust Surfacing – Through the testing phase, we worked on  multiple surface options that would allow the Pursuit balls to maintain  length, but still offer strong backend continuation.  The best possible  surface that we tested is 800 Abralon and 1500 Abranet. 3) Hyper Branched MDI Technology – This new cover system offers more  performance, longer than any other industry MDI covers currently used. 4) All New Components – The Ebonite Pursuit Product Line is using  materials that NO OTHER BOWLING BALLS are currently using!  Concept:  In bowling, we all know that there are bowlers that are able  to take advantage of the latest and greatest cores each Brand releases  to the market.  At Ebonite, we have long been known for developing some  of the very best cores the industry has ever used . . . but, as we all  know, the cover is the most important part of the equation when we talk  about creating ball motion.  With Rev Rates of some players being so  high, they really have been a segment of the market that has been  neglected.  That is where the Pursuit S comes into play!  Finally,  Players that have High Rev Rates have a ball with the absolute latest  cover technology!  So, the question becomes; are you “Down and In” or  are you “Coast to Coast”????  Either way, the Ebonite Pursuit or Pursuit  S will offer you the absolute best performance in the market to date!

I have my pursuit drilled at 70x 5 x70 (not a dual angle layout) and my PAP is 4 7/8" right and 1/2" up. I do have a med-high rev rate and med-high speed. 

 I really like this ball. It gives me a read I have never seen. It goes long and comes back strong. I like this ball polished; however, it snaps way too hard on the back end for me so I can only realistically use this ball for about a game and a half either polished or dull. I will be taking this ball with me to Nationals 2012 Baton Rouge. I think it will clear the heads nicely and still have the return on the back end that I will need for those conditions.
 
I did a comparison to this ball and my Mission X at the same finish (I had them both at 1000 dull and it was a fresh house shot). As you can tell by the pics they are drilled relatively the same and no those are not the finishes I used to test them. Remember, I had them both at 1000 dull, I only have a pic of both so that you could see that they were drilled relatively the same. The Pursuit went about 2 - 3 feet longer and snapped harder off the back end than did the Mission X. The Mission X read the lane much sooner than the Pursuit did. All in all, I believe that these bowling balls compliment each other because if you can't get the Pursuit to read, you can throw the Mission X, and if your Mission X isn't going far enough down the lane before hooking, you can switch to the Pursuit.
 
I do not have a Pursuit S drilled up. Though it looks to be as great as this one. 
 
Can too much back end be a negative?

I have drilled two of the pursuit.  This ball is amazing.  Just put your favorite layout in it and it will roll great.  The two I drilled was


70 x 5 1/2 x 40
box finish
it works great on fresh house or sport patterns


70 x 5 x 70
box finish then factory finish polish
realy smooth motion good for sport patterns


The pursuit and pursuit s is the best pieces in my bag.

Length:  Ball is clean through front but very strong in the mid lane (higher rev players will have to use abralon 4000 or use a polish on top of factory surface)

 

Midlane: Very, very strong motion in the mid body of lane

 

Breakpoint: Continuation of ball motion after midlane.  As I modified the surface with abralon pads, the breakpoint responded as well (more angle)

COMMENTS

 

The PURSUIT is a very strong ball; probably the strongest ball I have used in many years.  Out of the box, this ball will hook on everything (length, high volume, etc.).  Any long or higher volume pattern will be a perfect match for this ball.  Amazingly, this ball will still contain energy at the breakpoint.  The versatility of the cover and layout options make this ball a "MUST HAVE" for a bowling ball arsenal. Bowlers with medium to lower rev rates and higher ball speeds will match up very, very well with this ball.  Higher rev rates and slower ball speeds will want the Pursuit S.

 

Everything about this ball (color, shelf appeal, technology, core, cover, etc) is a win-win.  Great new piece Ebonite!

Out of box surface
Right Hand

The Pursuit reads mid lane and has strong arching motion on backend and drives through pocket continuously. This ball fits my game better with me being a down and in player.  The ball allows me the versatility to move in deeper on the lane and still get the arching backend reaction.

On a THS or tournament shot, I can play down and in; however, as the lanes break down, I can move deeper on the lane and still have a strong continuous backend.

This ball is a MUST HAVE addition to your arsenal if you are looking for something to conquer medium to heavier oil patterns!

My Pursuit is currently drilled with the pin above the bridge, cg kicked out to the right just a little bit.  There is a small weight hole near the thumb,

I currently have the surface set to right aroun 2000 and this gives me the nice arcy motion I was looking for.  It is super clean and gets down the lane no problem, storing enough energy to charge through the pins and split the 8-9 for me.

I love it!!
