Very nice ball. Does a lot of rolling and hits the pocket with force. Great for medium oil but its its heavy oil ball may slide a lot more but overall a great ball for anybody.
Rating: 8 out of 10

This is a 14lb ball with a 3 inch pin and 2.5 ounces of starting top weight. The ball was drilled with the cg just right of grip center and the pin an inch or so right of the ring finger. This is close to label leverage for me. I first tried the ball in box condition with a coat of doc's elixir. It hooked a little early this way for me. It was just plain too strong for the lanes. I put it in a luster king for 10 minutes and the ball came out with a very glossy finish. While the ball was still plenty strong, the Vortex 1 now got about 5 more feet of length and I got very good pocket % with it. The carry was exceptional. I carried almost everything I deserved and several shots that I thought would leave a 7 or ten pin. The overall hook shape is arc. The cover is a very strong reactive and the core wants to stand up early so I would say the ball best suits wetter mediums in box finish and regular mediums polished. This is definitely not a ball for drier lanes or shorter patterns as it will hook early and burn up. I really like this ball, but I am a bit surprised with its strength as it came out 3 years ago and even then was billed as a medium condition ball. In short, the ball reads the dry very early and then starts a very predictable arc to the pocket and carries exceptionally well. Use it when you have some oil but not a flood and I think you'll be very pleased.
Good bowling.

This is the ball that started it all. Its the very first line of the new wave Vortex series by Ebonite....the V1-Trimax..i bought this ball used from Mike at Mikes Pro Shop in Houston, two and a half years ago for 40 bucks. i had him drill it the same layout as my Tiger...Pin is about a inch to the extreme right of the ring finger.  CG is about 2 inches up and slightly right of the thumb hole. This layout will give u some length and a hard controlled turn at the break point. By the way...its a 15 lb 3oz ball....After all these years it is still the most powerful, controllable, consistant resin ball i have ever thrown.....im 44 years old, ive thrown quite a few...its not the first ball out of my bag...but more important, its my go to ball when i really need a strike...or if im struggling in some way. Clean thru the fronts, ive never had a problem with ten pins...carries well. I love this ball....im not sure, but i believe it was the first, or one of the first balls to be considered a particle resin. If any of you stumble across one of these gems for sale GET IT, you wont be disappointed....its very versatile on conditions, dry, med, heavy....also, down and in, or straight players will benefit a great deal from this ball.                                                                                                                                                                      The only negative about this ball is it may leave a 7 or 8 pin on hard flush hits...                                                                                    Take care ...and good bowling..........
