Got my primal instinct drilled up 2 days ago.  Primal-pin under ring cg swung out 1/2-1" bomb in strong flip position.

Pattern 1-a reverse block shot as 7 to the gutter was OB and insides especially 17 and left were extremely dry.  Got so much over/under with the primal because there was no oil to swing it, should have tried to go up the boards but didn't get a chance to.

Pattern 2-THS with flying backends but some oil in the mids from 17-20.  I couldn't really find a liine with either ball.  The lanes were so spotty from open bowlers all week it was ridiculous.  I did have a fine line for about 1/2 game with the primal standing 35 rolling it to 18 at the arrows but keeping it tight to about 16 and letting it hit dead flush.

I bowl on a crown shot tomorrow for leagues, oiled to 38 and buffed to 42 i believe and will update this tomorrow evening and also update in the future when more games are on it.

what a great ball for oil or med oil. this ball way out hooks anything partical i have for oil. it has med lenght revs hard in the mid lane and continues through the pocket. gets good messengers and hits very hard. on a regular house shot 38 foot oil christmas tree pattern it was a monster. was able to swing 16-5 and come back real hard clearing the deck. tried to play straight down 5 but hooked way to much. didnt seem to pick up a lot of oil like some dull balls do. this is a great new coverstock from ebonite. for oil iam throwing my particals away and this new resin is my choice for oil. i give this ball a strong 9 good job ebonite.

We have drilled several of these balls in house using the Mo Pinel Asymmetrical layout sheet.

The Primial Instinct is a very controllable ball and over the summer sport league several bowlers used this ball to give them the extra control that you need on those tougher sport shots.

On a wet/dry conditions, the Primial is good for not over reacting when it hit the dry area.  If you are looking for a skid/flip ball, this is not the ball for you.  If you are looking for something that will cover 5-10 boards and be very controllable, then this might just be the ball that you have been looking for in your bag.

The Primal Instinct is, actually, a good ball. The ball reacts on medium to heavy oil surely well. On the Lane the ball begins to roll in the Midlane and hit with full power in the pins. That what i want.
My highest Game with the PI was 257.

With the PI I play very much gladly. Presupposition for a good reaction on the lane is a consistently clean ball surface.
Apart from that the ball is good to play and well readably. The PI does not tolerate mistakes on the release.
I play the ball on a 40feet Christmas three pattern medium to heavy oil and can say the PI very well with it manages.
I sand the Ball every 30 - 35 Games for a consistent Ball Reaction.
I can recommend the ball with quiet conscience then he is worth anyway his money.
For beginner I would not recommend the ball

Likes: The heavy roll, color, and the amazing hit...and kills the over/under
Dislikes: I really cant think of any...other than being discontinued

Ball Specs:
15 pounds
Top Weight: 3.25 oz
Pin out: 2-3 inches
Factory Surface

Layout: 4" 45 degree
This put the pin in the center of my grip with cg kicked out towards my axis and the mass bias at 45 degrees from my axis. I needed a weight hold to take it back to around 7/8 positive. The weight hole was two inches past my axis which is 4 3/8'' from my center of grip.

Lane Condtions: Second Shift Brunswick Anvil Lane broken down heads with carry down and out of bounds from 5 to the gutter.

My Stats: Power Stroker with around 10-30 degree axis tilt, around 15-16 mph off my hand and around medium revs

Reaction: I took a chance on the Primal Instinct. I saw it on the discount sheet from my distributors and it was the same time I was encountering severe over under the second shift league I sub in regularly. I'm glad I put some holes in this one. The roll of the Primal reminds me alot of the roll I used to get from my old Ebonite Red Wolf. Which was one of the greatest balls I ever threw. The Primal allows me to play the right side of the lane which is my comfort zone. It clears the heads very well and then once it hits the midlanes it just turns over, hooks and rolls right into the 1-3. If I miss alittle outside it has the extra bit ti come back into the pocket. So it creates miss room to the right which is something I always look for in my equipment.

The one thing that I find about the Primal is that once it gets to the pocket...there is no stopping it. This has to be one of the hardest hitting bowling balls I have ever thrown. It's just a shame about how Ebonite discontinued the Primal Instinct so early. It was a very overlooked and underrated bowling ball...

Thanks and great bowling,

Very strong roll. Doesn't want to overhook. good for more direct lines. Good on heavier oil patterns.

UPDATE: threw this ball in league last night, and the ball proved to be great in the practice, 1st game i struggled with it, but that was due to bowler error, i shot a 160, second game, same ball, shot a 242, and 3rd, a 201. so i ended up with 603. but it was the last week of league, and it didnt really matter, cuz last week was roll offs, so it was a fun week i guess...anyways, ball handles over/under amazingly! i cant think of a better ball to be throwing when the lanes get spotty. granted, i was swinging it to get it to 7 at 45-50 feet and hook, but thats what i needed to score well. overall, this is a great ball and cant wait to use it in my next tourney!

the layout on this ball is pin above the rf, cg kicked in a little, mb in thumb, with a small weight hole on the val.

I bought this ball well over a year ago and was never really happy with it.  Part of the problem is that I have always been one of those rare bowlers that threw a full roller and I believe this ball did not react well to that kind of treatment.  So I bought a Backyard Bully and put this ball away.  This summer I decided to change my release and had the ball redrilled. Pin is 2" out just under the ring finger cg is in center of palm.  First game did not start out great bowled a 169, missed several spares (stupidity mostly).  Second game I came back and was feeling more comfortable with my release and was able to get to 205.  By the 3rd game I was feeling pretty good knocked off 10 in a row and left a ringing 10 for the 11th ball for a 289.  The ball reacts so much differently with a more aggressive release it is almost unbelievable.
Right handed
approach--right foot 5 boards left of center at front spots
throwing out to about the 5-8 board
aver. speed 17
medium oil not sure what pattern (whatever the house pattern is)
ball would go long and then make a smooth hard turn back into the pocket.  If I hit the head pin at all it was probably a strike.

I recently got this ball on sale. I had the chance to use this ball only 3 days ago. I really liked this ball a lot. Had a 3 game series of 642 which by the way included an 180 game. I had it drilled to use on medium to heavy oil. It was drilled to have an early roll on it. Overall, it worked like a charm for me.
