Hi Everyone,

Drilled this baby up today and shot 300 with it out of the box.  Layed it out to complement my regular Big Time when it starts to burn up as the lanes go through transition.  It does just that.  Cleaner through the front with the same strong finish as the regular Big Time.

Drilled this 14lb. 4oz. ball with a 3in. pin under the rings finger and CG kicked out at approximately 4 oclock (Ebonite Medium RG Strong Layout). This ball is one great ball. Definately flippy instead of rolly but does not hesitate to turn left on at all. Thrown approximately 3 sets with this ball. First set was on a virtual THS (Christmas Tree). Started with my feet on 30 and hit the arrows at 18 to a breakpoint of 7 and shot 662 on old wooden lanes. Not bad...last game the ball was just way too much as I ended in the gutter caps hitting 30 to 12 and the ball would just bite too much. A couple nights later, same house but late 3rd shift. Tried this ball but it was just way too much. Tried to play with less hand but still was not the ball for this shot. However, wanted to throw it and experiment and could not roll the ball out no matter how deep I moved. Not a great set, not even a good set but this ball should've been in the bag. Anyway, next day, go to Synthetic AMF house for league on 2nd shift and find lanes a little toasted from 5-15. Didn't matter on this day with this ball, moved in to 20 flaring to 7 and shoot 205 (Getting lined up), 268(2 solid 9 pins and I'm right handed), and 258 for 731 series. Not bad.
All in all, I give this ball a 9 out of 10. Haven't found a dislike for this ball as I know it's intended use. Now I have to get the original Big Time for the heavier stuff. Get you one of these if you get the chance.

loved the sanded so i had to try this especially with the great price.above average revs 18.4 mph, right handed .i have had 2 300 with the sanded .drilled this ball 4 1/2 by 2 large weight hole below pap. 1/2 once side weight.had this ball 2 weeks and let me say it blows away the big time sanded which is hard for me to say.first time out 670 in league on 41 feet oiled 5 to 5. next time out sport shot league  45 feet flat oil played 15 to 9. 4 games 880 high in league front seven twice..next time out 39 feet ob from 6 out.played 20-9 258 first game front 7. 279 2cd game front 9 258 3rd game front 7 again......this ball is awesome more versatile than sanded with same hitting power....crushes light hits with massive messengers.gonna drill a 2cd this week

Drilling: Pin 5" from PAP and CG 5-1/2" from PAP
AMF synthetic lanes, med oil inside and very light oil outside.
Oiled 38' and buffed out to 42'

This is a very good compliment to the Big Time sanded that I have with
the same drilling. Medium length with a STRONG arc in the back. Has very nice continuation through the pins and excellent carry. This ball is a must have for anyone that has the BT sanded. Ebonite has another WINNER!

This ball is like a surprise weapon, when you want to get down to business. I was throwing this ball in some different tournaments, and just bowled some awesome scores. I won a couple of tournaments with this ball with some of my  team mates. I talked a left handed buddies of mine to get this ball so we could go and win this doubles tournament. The ball is very readable down the lanes. My friend shot scores of 279,259,258,198 for 994. I shot scores of 267,222,234,290 for 1022. We did win the tournament with our Big Time Pearls. The price on this ball is very reasonable. If you like control then you need to go with a Big Time Pearl.

i got this ball about two weeks ago based on what i read in bowling this month
about the backend and the core torque and then seeing wadneys review. i am a
stroker with average to slightly higher ball speed and i usually stand about
24 and throw it over about the 2nd arrow. this ball is VERY STRONG. once i got used to it i lay it out over the second arrow standing on 24 and the pins go
BOOM and thats no joke. last wednesday in the mixed league i threw a 255 and
233 with it and in the 2nd shift on thursday night a 203 and a 215. tonight in
practice i threw 12 in a row. this ball does need oil no doubt if its dry dont
try but for the price (90 bucks at buddies pro shop) how can u go wrong. a lot
stronger that a lot of much more expensive balls. i give this ball a 10 out
of 10

pin under ring finger...ebonite medium strong rg drilling.  this ball has great back end.  i bowl two houses (millertime bowl amf sythetic strong backend, and leisure lanes medium backend).  i like it better with medium back end.  with this drilling the ball rolled to early for lanes with more back end and would die in the pocket.  better on less backend and just let the ball do the work.  first full set at leisure was 715.  over all a 9 out of 10.  what i really like is the drilling.  gives me a different angle than any of my other equipment.  good ball ebonite.  time series is the best you have.

I have been bowling for some time now, carry a 217 average in at least 2 of my leagues and i would just like to say that this ball is the real deal. I bowl in all diffrent kinds of houses, dry, oily, and medium, but i must say this ball doesn't matter what it is it wrecks the pocket. I've seen the one and the other more expensive balls but for how cheap this ball is and what it does this ball is practically a steal. I would recommend this ball for any one who at least knows how to bowl.

Bought the ball off ebay used.  Very low games with span 1/16 long in ring finger and with slug (i use thumb switch).  League night was medium to light oil.  No practice with ball and shoot 699.  I am a big Ebonite fan with a one and big one and for what those balls offer the big time pearl was perfect for this condition.  was standing 20-25 and threw 10-3 and if this ball made it to the 1-3 pocket it struck.  Kept pins real low, chopped the 10 pin out, light strikes, even can openers.  Pin was set above bridge 1/2 inch, pin in.  Like others have said for the money you get a high performance ball and mid performance price.

Bought it used off a fellow member in ballreviews.com. It is drilled pin below ring and cg a little to the left of the grip center line (I'm a lefty)...

House:
Medium/dry, oiled heads and clean backends (not sure what type of pattern)

Bowler info:
High-end Tweener
15-16 mph ball speed
300-375 rev rate
low axis tilt, high tracker
45-75 degrees axis rotation

Extremely Clean through the Heads
Ball clears the heads with ease...I belive it is due to the factory finish polish but whatever it is it pretty much ignores the heads and gets through with ease.

Control
The ball skids through the heads and begins to pick up nicely in the midlane. The drilling I had for this ball gave me very good control. The ball responded very well to different hands positions. The ball basically did whatever i wanted it to do. I was surprised how many boards I was able to cover with the BTP. I was able to play 2 different lines that i found good success with. The first line was my A game playing 25 throwing it to 7 swinging to 3 at the breakpoint. The second line i played straighter, standing on 10, throwing at 5 at breakpoint.

Length
This ball game me very good length. It skidded out very far down the lane and conserved energy very well. I was actually able to use this ball for my spares. I throw it with less axis rotation, and it give me the straight line i need to hit those corner pins.

Reaction
Ball gave me a STRONG and CONTINUOUS hook in the backends. Playing my semi-deep line, standing on 25 throwing to 3, the ball came back with ease towards the pocket and shattered the rack. I love playing deep with this ball. Playing my down and in game, the ball reacted very nicely giving me that same strong arc towards the pocket shattering the rack.

The Ball Hits HARD
As is mentioned before, this ball SHATTERS the rack. It gives very good pin action in most shots. It carries lights hit very well with strong messengers. If you want one of those balls that shatters and sends pins flying everywhere, this is the ball for you.

In Conclusion...
The ball is awesome, great performance and is pretty much a steal at the price it goes for. It looks awesome, reacts awesome, it is my benchmark ball. I cannot say enough about it. oh yes, but does not react in oil, but that wasn't what it was meant for. It pretty much went straight when i through it at my other house which is pretty wet. But I believe scuffing it might allow it to handle oil. But anyways, i definitely recommend this ball to anyone. Great value, a STEAL!

Hope this helps!

Pin to PAP Distance: 5 1/2"
Preferred Spin Axis to PAP Distance: 4 1/4"
Balance Hole: None
Surface Preparation: Box Condition

What I Was Looking For in this Ball and Layout:

In this ball I wanted to accomplish two things. First, I wanted something that was slightly weaker than my One ball but slightly more than my Overtime (both reviewed on June 3rd). Second, I wanted to give this coverstock another try after botching my first attempt with the Big Time solid. I think this cover has a place in my bag and I was convinced that I could get a decent look with it.

What I Ended Up With in this Ball and Layout:

One thing I've learned about Ebonite bowling equipment over the past month is that the coverstocks are very clean through the front of the lane. Ebonite balls also use a little more differential than other manufacturer's equipment. This can create slightly more violent breakpoints than normal, and you have to be careful with layout and ball selection so that you don't get an uncontrollable bowling ball.

The Big Time Pearl clears the front of the lane reasonably well for a particle coverstock bowling ball. You'll notice my rankings show that the ball has length characteristics between my One and Overtime, just as I had hoped. The Big Time Pearl has had no trouble clearing the front on any synthetic lane surface. Our local bowling center has Guardian lane surface in the first 18 feet. I do have to make sure to rotate the axis slightly more in this center to get the ball through the front. Overall, the length of the Big Time Pearl is right where I expected.

Notice the preferred spin axis distance I chose on this ball. If you continue to follow our reviews on this site, you'll learn that this layout is very common in my bag. It tends to give me a nice reaction shape for my game, and the look fits my eye. All of us have a preferred ball reaction that we like to see on the lane. Many of my friends tell me that I like to see "weird" ball reactions. I tend to look for ball reaction that loses axis rotation quickly, getting the ball into a heavy forward roll in front of the pocket.

Using the 4 1/4" preferred spin axis location in combination with this pin position is a sure lock to get me the type of reaction I'm describing. When this Big Time Pearl begins to read friction on the lane, it flares very quickly and loses the majority of its axis rotation in a very short distance. This creates quick transition and a lot of entry angle into the pocket.

In overall hook, my Big Time Pearl fits in right where I had hoped. A simple 1-1 or 2-1 move away from my One ball gets me to the hole with the Big Time Pearl. I will admit that the Big Time Pearl is definitely closer to the One than the Overtime in overall hook. My Overtime ball is anywhere from 4-6 boards straighter depending on lane condition and surface.

With less than a month until the True Amateur Tournament, High Roller, and Mini-Eliminator, I have a great 3-ball progression for tournament play from my One, to my Big Time Pearl, to my Overtime.

Length from 1-10 (Early to Late)
6.0

Breakpoint Move from 1-10 (Smooth to Sharp)
9.0

Overall Hook from 1-10 (Low to High)
8.0

A picture of this ball and the layout can be seen on our website if you are interested.

This ball is AMAZING. I swear this thing picks up speed as it gets further down the lane and drives through the pins. I have the pin below the fingers ing the middle witht he cg strait down an inch.
