The Big One

Ball NPS Score: Not Available
What started with The One has grown into a huge phenomenon. Now it''s time now for THE BIG ONE. Our revolutionary GB 10.7 coverstock is pushed to 11.2 delivering a backend attack that is the most aggressive to hit the lane. A dominant performer in wet conditions, it complements The One in a big way. Bowl to Win.

Ebonite The "BIG ONE":

Ball Specs
The ball being drilled was a 3” pin out with 3.00 oz top weight.
Drilling: Pin 3 3/4" from PAP and Mb 45 degree angle. Pin is Above Ring finger, 3" above grip midline. Weight Hole on VAL and Midline. Factory Sanded 4000.

Bowler Information:
Track diameter is 10 1/2.
PAP is measured at 5 1/4 over and 3/8" up.
Average ball speed (foul line to head pin) is 17 mph.
Axis rotation is typically 90 degrees
Initial rev rate is typically 300 rpm, "Tweener"
Lane Condition and Pattern:
AMF Bowlero, HPL 9000 Panel. Oil Pattern: Medium Heavy Oil and slightly clean back ends. Fairly Flat condition from edge board to edge board.

REVIEW:
Ebonite had a tough job trying to improve on I feel one of the best balls not only Ebonite ever produced but also in the market place today with The One. The Big One is a great ball but does roll differently from The One. When comparing these balls I used my The One at a 4000 Sanded Surface, same as The Big One with the same drilling. The Big One rolls or revs up quicker and smoother at the breakpoint on the same condition. The ball still hits very hard and if anything is more readable than The One. The factory 4000 tends to skid more than I liked on the heavy oil at AMF Bowlero, so I sanded it down to 2000. At 2000 the ball did not lose any backend reaction but allows me to now over power the heavy puddle of oil in the center of the lane that Bowlero puts out. If you are looking for a sanded ball that has strong backend reaction I would stay with The One sanded at 2000 or 4000. If you are a spinner or low track player looking for a smooth hooking ball for oil, I would recommend The Big One. Both wonderful balls and in my opinion the hottest balls in the country today.

Thanks for reading my review.

Well just got to throw THE BIG ONE. Above is a picture of the drill.
I can tell you i throw about 18-20speed. I do have plenty of revs, and i can tell you this ball is awesome. In practice i was standing 30, laying 20 out to about 7 and oh my this ball makes such a charge towards the pocket. I have owned THE ONE and compared to THE BIG ONE this  is a hooking machine, hooks earlier than THE ONE, and the hook is not as sharpas THE ONE  but a very gradual hook. The finish on the  ball is perfect. The house conditions were i think about 38' trees shot. I really need to see what it does on more oil though.

Layout:
Pin 5" from PAP above fingers
MB is @ 60 degrees

Lane conditions:
AMF synthetics with typical house shot(med/heavy oil inside and very light oil outside 7 boards)

Drilled this ball about two weeks ago, and I must say I LOVE it already. It reacts sooner than The ONE and stronger overall. I put a light coat of Factory Finish Polish on it, and it is still a VERY strong ball. This is a big hooking ball with great continuation through the pins. I really like how the ball mixes up the pins. Anyone that likes The One should LOVE The Big One. Keep up the good work Ebonite.

PAP - Pin 4"
PAP - MB 3"
Pin 4" above midplane with 31/32 x 2 hole on PAP

I was not a big fan of the original One with box surface... I had to tweak and tweak it to get the look I wanted.  Once I found the right surface, it rocks.  The Big One is a bit different, read on...

The Big One out of box was a striking machine... much more midlane, equal or more backend, and great carry.  With 1000 abralon, its a hook monster... definitely for inside the oil line and heavier/longer patterns.  With the same surface as the One (1000 abralon with factory finish polish,) it really outhooks the One in the late midlane and backend.  I ended up hitting the backflares again with 1000 abralon, and it's shape is very much like the box reaction on most conditions, but the hit seems to be more crisp.

The motion is alot like the One, but much bigger.  I had both balls with identical surface yesterday in the center practicing, and struck for about 10 minutes with the Big One playing through the arrows around 18-20 and bumping 7-8 at 40 feet on the synthetic house pattern with light carrydown.  I pulled out the One and threw it in the same place and cleanly removed the 3 from between the 1 and 6 for a 5-count washout.  This is typical of what I see in most centers... 7-8 more boards of big-end hook than the original One.

I'll be putting holes in another very soon and will post a second review after I get 30-40 games on it.

This ball flat out hooks a ton. If you need a heavy oil ball get the Big One.

Got this ball not to long ago
drilled #2 high rev med-high ball speed
out of box surface

I am very impressed with this ball. first night out of box
234-196(4 splits)-289=719 second game was me not the ball. it reads the mids very well explodes when it hits the rack. this is probably the best ball I have seen or thrown.

in the bag
The One(new)
ebonite v2 sweet
track rule gp2
track exception
track exception 5.0
plus various others that don't see much of the lanes anymore

the next ball will be THE BIG ONE
if it is anywhere near as good as THE ONE it will be worth it
so on a 1-10 i would have to say 9.5

This is a truly amazing heavy oil ball.  I just drilled one up and have one league on it, but i can tell what it is capable of doing.  The ball was 15lbs 3.5 oz top weight and pin out drilled with an aggressive leverage weight pattern.  The house uses a top hat pattern with 72 units for 38ft and the back ends are somewhat mild.  The paradigm struggles on it until it dries out and so does the absolute inferno.  This ball allowed me to put speed on the ball and get aggressive with the pocket.  I was throwing about 14mph with a good amount of hand but i increased the ball speed to around 18 with this ball and moved left with my stance. I was laying the ball down on 15 swinging to 6 and screaming back to the pocket.  I scored 210, 202, 235 out of the box and average 197 on this shot. I knew that all i needed to do was get it to the pocket.  The thing that surprised me was how much it hooked going over the middle of the lane for spares.  I missed one because of how much it hooked. It struck 6 times in the first, 7 in the second (2 big splits my fault), and 7 in the last.  I can't say enough great things about this ball.  I change balls all the time and I find it easy to judge balls with my style. This one is a must have.  Lay it out for your style and just watch it hammer the pins.  I noticed another with it that night and he can get more into the ball than me.  He struggled a bit at first finding the right line then it started working for him as well.  This ball convinced me to add the one to my arsenal as well.  When my paradigm cracks or needs replacing, the one will be added. The pro shop that does my equipment is in the house.  I was the first to get this ball from him.  He had 3 sold before the night was over from others seeing what this ball could do.  I am trying it this weekend on less oil to see how it will react. I will post another review when i have more games on it.

This is an easy review .... Back to back homeruns for Ebonite.

The first time out I bowled so-so and shot 798 with the BIG ONE in a situation where earlier an aggressively drilled The One was not enough ball to overcome the wet midlane. The Big One is a great compliment to The One. Big One is an earlier reaction and more forgiving in the oiler midlane areas where The One was a bit skiddish. The backend visual snap may be slightly less pronounced than The One but make no mistake the Big One is a powerful ball. Do not use this ball on drier lanes or short patterns, it WILL hook out far too quickly unless your ball speed is extreme.

The Big One that was drilled had a starting pin of 3 inches and 3 ounces of top weight. The drilling pattern was pin at 4 1/2 and 3 inches above the midline and the bomb was at 4 1/2 inches. The balance hole was in my PAP at 5 1/8 over by 1/2 up. The ball was used in box condition on Proanvilane surface with a moderate volume 39 foot house wall.

Drill one of these up for sure if you like The One!

ok here goes my two cents. high track low speed low rev player, more comfortable playing inside lines than out. 16 lb ball drilled #2 on the drill sheet.I shot this ball on wood synthetics dry and oil and all in all i think its a good ball. The ball finishes well and carry is good when u find the right line.the ball is deceptive in that with drier back ends it hooks a ton change the backend by adding more oil or carry down and the hook potential decreases greatly. But i guess thats with any ball .Once find the proper release and line this ball will definetly deliver results. Carry is good and i think in the hands of a more accomplished player this ball could be a work of art.tonight i shot games of 152 ,trying to play deeper than i should ,233 forgot how to bowl in the 8 th 9th and 10th and 206 with 2 missed 10 pins not great but good for me. i think this ball is definetly stronger than the one based on watching other peoples ones on the same lanes ,I believe this ball with a little cover tweeking could be a monster in anyones hands .I am going to get another one and sand it to 1000. Great ball ,but it will really show your short comings if you have any.

GB 11.2 is "GOLD"!

I hit my BIG ONE with 600 grit and it really came to life.
The coverstock still cleared the heads like plastic and digs in on the mids and backend like particle.

love it simply love it.  Was exactly the reaction i wanted in a big hooking ball.  I wanted something that started the reaction early, but not too early.  It snaps so hard on the backend that people said to me that they didnt even think it would get to the pocket. Ebonite brang me back to their products with this ball. Purely excellent.

I took alot of time thinking about this ball and that is the only negative thing about it.I read all the reviews and they were hard to belive. I wanted a ball to go long and snap like no other and this is the ball. I throw the ball fast 18 - 20 mph and have trouble getting the ball to react.I normally throw throgh the break and there is no reaction. With this ball out of the box I stand two dots to the left of center and throw any were from 13-17 on the right side and kill the pins. I have only had the ball for 4 days and have avg. 220 or better with this ball with 18 games in. As long as u hit your mark its great. I have used it on oily to semi oily lanes and only had to move a board or two.I have thrown a 279 game already and think this will be the ball to get my ring.Every body tryed to tell me to buy the one  but I throw to fast i am very pleased this ball it is a 10 out of 10 I am bowling in the state tourn. apr 9 and will let you know how i did.If you want it to go long and snap hard this is the drilling specs   2-3 inch pin 2 3\4 oz. top weight and in-line mass-bias put the pin right next to your ring finger and the bomb next to your thumb hole. special thanks to gary omalley for the drilling.

I can't say enough about this ball.  Out of the box my first series was a 653 (with a 171 average)  This ball is incredible...BUT, be sure to let the ball do the work!!  And don't worry about this ball coming back...it snaps back with a vengeance.....shredding the rack completely!!  Love, love, love this ball!

let me start of by saying that i have not been a fan of ebonite every ball i tried from them never worked for me and it would just end up living the rest of its life in the basement. anyway i was looking for a ball for oil because everything i have is polished because i thow a good hook but i get in trouble when there is carrydown leaving a lot of flat tens and stuff. i decided to give ebonite one last try, hearing nothing but good things about the origional one i wanted to try the big one. not many people around here have this ball so there has not been any feedback to my proshop that i go to. i got it punched out monday and tested it out on a house shot right after. i was amaized how well this ball reacts if you get it in the oil it will slide but if you get it out far it will come screamin back and obliterate the rack literally. i have never thrown pins around with any ball i owned like i do with this ball. i send messengers like they are shot out of the side boards, i could probably take out a tenpin 2 lanes down if it had the chance thats how much energy the pins have when the ball hits. the pins were flyin all over i kept gettin dead wood in the gutter and the mechanic came out and said to me what are you doin that you keep gettin pins in the gutter. all i had to do was throw one ball and he said "WOW can that ball hit any harder" and just walked away in amazement lol. i highly recomend this ball to anyome. i was purposly playing in the oil to see how good it reacted and it found the pocket anywhere to the right of my spot. i was standing 1 board left of the last dot and throwing at 17 out to 8ish. that ball has 18 games one it now and im averaging 230 with it from a 220.
