I've been using this ball for a couple of months now (probably 80 games) so I thought it would be time to write it up. I'm basically a medium RH tweener, see my profile for additional info.
I got this ball to handle those occasions when they actually put some long oil out and my Blaze gets "squirty", or when the carry-down gets out of hand and/ or the backends aren't there.
Ball specs:
15#
3" pin
drilled stacked leverage with the pin slightly above the ring.
Weight hole on PAP
Lane conditions: Two houses, both Brunswick synthetics. House #1 has the old (no stripe) and I bowl in two leagues, a scratch league (3-man) and a men's league (5-man)both on fresh shots, although the 5-man shot seems to be thinner (goes away in about 15 frames). House #2 has the new Anvilane with the stripes and breakpoint markers where I bowl in second shift scratch league (3-man).
This is one powerful ball. When the conditions are right, especially in house #1 it's a killer. Last night I was able to bowl the whole four games set with only a one board move for new personal bests in three and four game series.
The ball revs off the hand really well, and a release adjustment can cause it to react differently to suit the conditions. Last night I was using my end-over-end high-track release, but I've also been able to "top" it with good results (track drops about an inch). The reaction has been described here before, but I'd call it a slightly rounded hockey stick, that stays that way even after the lanes are spotty.
It's usually my first ball out of the bag, as it reads the conditions well and let's me know whether it's going to be usable. Only problem I've had is that I like the feel of this ball so much, that it's hard to put it away, even when it's not working. It's usually done by the middle of the second game in my 5-man league, and sometimes won't work at all on my second-shift league. Then again, when the back-ends go away, I can often bring it back out with some success.
This is my first "non-Storm" ball, but it could make me a convert.
