Hey everyone,
Sorry the replies took so long! I just got done giving another Total NV seminar in Phoenix and am now in the airport with a chance to respond.
Fatboy8 - No chance of me ever drilling a 3 3/8" ball with a differential this high. It just wouldn't match my natural game well, and would most likely be a very "unusable" ball for my physical game. Sorry.
Thanks to those with the great compliments. Gnomes are the coolest!
JMORRIS - Ball #2 is a simple 5" x 35 degree layout that I use often to create a little length in the front with a strong move at the breakpoint. Ball #1 is closer to the trick layout demonstrations Ebonite (and myself) has been giving at sneak peaks. You'll notice that the pin is very high, just 1 1/2" from my vertical axis line. This is the reason I'm able to use something as strong as a 4 1/2" pin in this ball.
Vspec - Most people would tend to like the reaction of number 3 the best, but it's the ball I've thrown the least at this point. Getting the ball to hit and carry is not an issue, so why give away the pocket? I prefer the reaction of the first two balls on slicker environments, and you'll notice that I've dulled them to 2000 to control them even more at the breakpoint.
Chunk300 - Sorry about the lack of straighter angles. I'll attempt it next time, but I'm not sure I could have pulled it off with this aggressive of a ball. You saw me get away with it in the SmashTime Pearl. I'll try and include this next time.
Overall the balls are very very different from one to the other. Ball #1 is clearly the earliest ball, but it tends to lay off a little in the backend. Ball #2 is a little cleaner in the front with the longer pin to pap distance, but it responds quickly at the breakpoint. Ball #3 is best suited when the lanes break down and dry up a little. When there is room to the right of the target, Ball #3 is a killer reaction.
On the fresh house shot you saw me bowl on, I prefer the reaction of Ball #1. Once they've broken in a game or two, I prefer Ball #2 by far. I typically don't throw Ball #3 at this house unless they dry quite a bit.
I'm glad everyone enjoyed it! It took a lot of work and editing to make it happen, and I'll continue to do them as long as everyone likes them and is learning something from them!
