First night out with the Total NV..
« on: January 22, 2007, 01:39:28 PM »
I picked up my Total NV this afternoon and was able to use it tonight in my Monday night mixed league I bowl with my wife. Let me start off by saying I have been having some hand problems the past couple of weeks so I am probably at about 75% right now as far as my hand goes..

I did not get the specs I was hoping for as this one had a 2 inch pin with 3 oz top weight but the other one Kurt had would have been harder to layout as the bomb was way off to the right of the pin and CG.. But I didn't want to wait another week or so until more where available so had this one drilled up..

I layed the ball out according to drilling #3 on the drilling instruction sheet that came with the ball. Thats pin to PAP of 3 1/2 which ended up with the pin right next to ring finger cg stacked under that and the bomb or mass bias at 75 degrees.. NO weight hole was needed.. The static weights where all under 1 oz. I left the ball at box finish which is 4000 abralon polished with Powerhouse polish..

The lanes I bowl on had a touch more oil in the middle tonight as the first ball I threw did not move that mcuh but I was to much in the oil.. The lanes are synthetic with the best shot being straight up the boards. If you swing it at all, you better hit it, because if you don't the dreaded 2-8-10 awaits you!! LOL.. Like I said, my hand is not 100% right now so that was causing me some problems in warm up..

I was standing on 30 (I drift about 5 boards right) and throwing the TNV over 20 out to 7 and the ball came screaming back. I could leak it out to 5 and it still would come back and hit the pocket..

The first game I was playing around trying to find a shot and if not for a blower 7-10 in the 9th on a 3 bagger I would have shot 230 +, but ended with a 197.. The second game the lanes opened up some and I was able to play a little bit more of a swing shot.. I ended up with a 236..

The third game the lanes got tighter (typical in this house) but I just moved further outside and took a tad bit of speed off the ball and ended with the last 7 for a 249.. For the night thats a 682.. Not bad for new ball and bad hand!!

The hit and carry on this ball is really something and I love the colors of it as well!! I am really glad I went with this drilling as I was looking for something smooth and this ball is all about that and control..

I can't wait to use it some more and am sure I will throw it better once my hand heals some.. I pulled some tendons in the top of my wrist and its pretty painful right now, but I am working thru it..

I give this ball a 9.5 out of 10 so far.. I highly recommend it and want to say thanks to Ron Hickland Jr. and the guys at Ebonite for continuing to produce some great equipment

PS: I also wanted to give kudos to the best ball driller in the Dallas area, Mr. Kurt Gengelbach at Fastrack Pro Shop inside Allen Bowl. He has drilled my stuff for the past 4 + years and he is the best.. Thanks Kurt for all the great work you do.. If your looking for someone in the DFW area to drill your stuff, give Kurt a call.. I highly recommend his work and character..

PSS: Jeff Ussery with Ebonite Powerhouse Training Clinic was also a big help when I was deciding how to lay out this ball. If you have quetions about Ebonite equipment, don't hesitate to ask him..  He is top notch as well.. Thanks again Jeff!!
