The NV will NOT be re-released...
« on: February 08, 2007, 11:21:18 PM »
I know there was some people saying to just wait and the NV will be re-released, well I received an email from Ed Gallagher with Ebonite and here is what he said:

"Regarding the NV – We gave our word to pro shop operators at our seminars that we would price protect the ball, and we will honor our commitment. So, we will not re-release this ball again!!!!"

"We are only making the 15# balls that we need in order to take care of the orders that we need to fulfill. After that it is done!!! You are getting the word from me, and it is my final decision, no one else makes these decisions…"

If you want one, better get one because when they are gone, they are gone for good.. I have no reason not to believe. Mr Gallagher. He has always been upfront and honest with me.

I have one on order and can't wait to get it!!

If you have two balls your selling NV and TNV your a canabalizing the line.  Its like selling the one and introducing a new ball Big One and the you lose interest in the other ball.  Thats all they are doing.  They want to move the inventory of the TNV so the public will buy this ball.  Is it right marketing wise heck yes.  Is it a bad idea for the public  maybe.

Don't be surprised if in a few months there is a completely different NV that comes out.. What the name will be who knows.. But it will be in the NV line and don't be totally shocked if it is the Blue/Silver NV they are saying is a very limited run. Lets put it this way, with as much press and hoopla this ball is getting, why not turn around and produce it for the public and call it something different. Pure NV?? Hmmm... that would be a good name. Just my thoughts.

Hey Greg T,

I get your point and respect what your saying but don't agree with you at all..

I still don't see where Ebonite did anything wrong, sorry..

AS far as my mention of ebay, thats just to get a price point for the ball and that was it..

I also do not agree it will be re-released at a premium price..

But thats OK.. No one said we have to agree. Like I said, I respect your opinion..

You missed the point entirely. I'm not saying anything about Ebay. I dont care about Ebay and dont buy, or price balls from Ebay. I'm saying that Ebonite put this ball into the hands of a few shop owners as a tease to the public, to create great interest amnd mystique about a product they now say is not available. WHY? Because eveyone wants what they cannot have and are willing to pay huge dollars for that privelge. What will happen after the hype cools down? Ebo will release the limited edtion NV at a much inflated price tag. It's not a magic ball. It's not adorned with a solid gold core. It's nothing more than a good bowling ball. But it WILL be released at a premium price. Mark my words.

Ask any marketing expert. The best way to make people want something is to tell them they cant have it. And just to pique their interest.......give them a tiny sample and THEN tell them they cant have it. I never said what they did was wrong. It is just something that is not necessary.

greg, who said people can't have it? They are out there available, just on a limited basis.. Thats the whole idea behind something being limited, not everyone can get one..

The decision makes total sense to me.

Why release something in similuar figure while you already have the Total NV selling for hot? It was a good decision to make the sales stay up where they are so people aren't pressured to buy one or the other.

I own the Total NV, and I love it. I don't think I will need the NV to be its close reaction.

I assumed Ebonite poured the NV first and then the Total.Testing showed that the Total was a better match for the general public and the cover held up better than the Angular.Ebonite decided to release the limited amount of NVs to the more experienced bowlers ie. pro shop owners and pros who know how to tweak a touchy ball and give the public the more user friendly Total.Sort of squeezing the lemon to make lemonade.

I'm sure they won't make the NV available to the public but I'll bet us Joe bowlers will see a solid version under a different name and color in the near future.

Of course this is all speculation on my part as I have no connections or inside info at Ebonite.Feel free to agree or disagree.
