671-776 with my new Nitro/R2
« on: October 05, 2015, 11:59:51 AM »
Picked up off Facebook barely used Nitro/R2. This was the first ball I shot 300 with back in 1994 and with me feeling in a retro mood, picked it up alongside an original V2. Have the V2 drilled basically Label lev and the R2 is more 4" pin-pap label drilling. I love the roll of the old school reactives and the carry is just as good as the newer stuff for me at least. First set was a broken down house shot and the second set was a fresh THS.

R2 Solid, http://www.123bowl.com/ball.cfm?ballid=58, or
Pearl, http://www.123bowl.com/ball.cfm?ballid=59 ??

Gee, the R2's core sure seems similar to that of the V2/Gamebreaker,

Interesting.. never thought about that.. Was the R2 used the original one from the 90s, or the remake/re-release they put out 5 - 10 years ago? If the original, You have me interested in a plug/redrill of my R2 and see what I can see..

Charlest,

Go back to 123bowl.com and check out the Ebonite blue urethane CRUSH.  It had the beginnings of the type of core back in 1993!

Don't think it had the added densities then (1993), but the basic shape and principle were there.

Almost certain it was also used in the original A.M.F. Bull Whip, even though the core pics there show something else ( core from the Whip Lash). I had the original Bull Whip, and it was a really good ball. Liked it enough to do the research back then, and I know I remember what I learned. A.M.F. never used that core configuration again, and a couple years later, it turned up back in Ebonite balls again.  Been there ever since.
Learn to laugh, and love, and smile, cause we’re only here for a little while.

Whip and whip pearl used the R^2 core.  BullWhip and Whiplash used a much denser stacked rock glass shaped core.  Ebo has been modding the densities of this core for over 20 years now....
