angular one thoughts anyone?
« on: November 17, 2006, 07:22:44 AM »
For those that have this ball what do you think so far.  It looks really cool.  I like the colors and what not.  I know appearance doesn't mean much but it's always nice when a good performing ball looks cool as well.

The only thing that kind of makes me worried about this ball is how strong it is.  If it't that strong polished then it would be kind of condition specific for only heavy oil use.  What do you guys think so far?

Probably the best ball i've ever had the pleasure to throw.  My first set was 233-227-290=750

My fisrt time throwing it was a bust. The ball hooks no more than a Maxim. Granted, I was on scabby lanes, so i am waiting to throw it on fresh to test once again.

This ball hooks! It has great motion which is easy to read going down the lane compared to most skid/snap balls for me. Its great to get inside and keep your speed down and swing it. I'll post a review after league and traveling league this weekend.

I didn't have any issue with it not hooking for me....

I have it drilled approxiamately like this:

..p.
0..0
.....
.....cg
.....
..0.mb

mb is about 1 inch or less right of my thumb and my angle to my PAP is rouugly 60-70 degrees (I havent measured it)

I throw about 16mph with medium revs (I haven't measured), and I was standing around 26 and throwing out to 9 or 10 and the ball came roaring back.  This was on a Saturday morning right after the alley opened.

Thanks for the info guys.  Oh another question I have to ask.  With the high scores I read being thrown with these balls it makes me wonder what kind of conditions are you guys bowling on?

I don't feel I will ever get a chance to bowl a lot of honor scores because the conditions I bowl on at league are not blocked house patterns.  So I wonder how this ball works on tough patterns?

My first night out (Tuesday) with the Angular One I noticed that the ball had a really hard drive to the pocket, so much that it would leave the 8 pin. (Lefty). This was on a THS. So I moved right 3 boards and it carried the 8. Shot 214, 201, 266 for a 681. The next night (Wednesday) I threw it on a tougher pattern, Had oil down to the pin deck and the ball just rolled straight, not much hook at all.Shot a 185, 202, 196 for a 583
For me this ball is condition specific.
I think I will get another one and have it sanded to 2000 and see if that makes a difference.
On a THS this balls burns up really soon for me.
I throw med revs at 16 mph, stand on 23 throw to 8. But I had to move to 26 and throw at 8 to get it to carry the 8 pin. On Wednesday had to move to 15 throw at 8 and it barely made it to the pocket, lots of light hits, but the pins just fly around.

If you say its condition specific then I must be using it on the right condition. I bowled more games on it today and all i gotta say is WOW.
