Well, i've a The One die, and now the AO. The Big One is fine. If i have the TNV die I am going to raise a ruckus like ebonite has never heard.

I dont want to hear about cleaning and maintenence. Nobody takes better care of their equipment than I. My AO made it 1/2 of the season before turned into a down and in ball with a slight backend reaction. My V2 Power outhooks the AO by 20 boards. My TNV had better not lose any reaction or it's curtains for Ebo. I absolutely love their stuff when it's fresh, and nothing matches my game better. But I refuse to buy 4 or 5 balls/yr, which is what i've been doing for the last three seasons.

I am sure some wise guy or will post in this thread something to the effect of,

"Are you using an Ebonite oil free towel and are you using energizer cleaner after every set"?

It will still die if its your usual Ebonite.

I have seen these same people on here say "the soaker covers were designed so Ebonites would not have ball death". So, they admit that Ebonites did have ball death on previous balls??? I bet while those balls were current products they didnt admit to it then just like Big E's currect products. I was not on Ball reviews then but, I would not doubt it one bit.  Yeah, I match up to them great also but, I cant handle buying something that I know in 50 games is going to be a boat anchor.

just my two cents but ,i took my no mercy to the pro shop yesterday and we were just talking about how it wasnt working like it did and i soak it and clean it and have had it resurfaced and he suggested i let him put it ih his rejuvinator(oven) which he did . After 10 minutes the ball that was sanded to 500 was sopping with oil and i only had 3 games on it since the last time i soaked it. Moral of the story is;oil soakers soak oil to creat friction if you dont remove the oil you will loose out on the friction creating capabilities of the ball . If you have tried soaking the balls try the oven at about 150 and watch the oil run out of the core. then see what kind of reaction you get.

i don't know slop i don't have ball death, and i just clean them. i really think its operator error on ball death. 2 seasons ont the one and the big one, should have called them energizers they just keep going and going.

Nope, I am very picky about cleaning and as religious as anyone about it. Everyone that "thinks" their ball is not dead seems to think the people who's ball is dead, does not clean their equpiment. This is not true in alot of cases. I think the reason might be what I posted the other day.

"I threw a buddys One the other day and he didnt think anything was wrong with it but, I picked up my spare ball and covered alot more boards with it becasue the One was totally dead! He thought it was the lanes at fault until I did the comparision but, it was a HUGE equipment issue. His usual house is almost like a  medium volume wet/dry shot so, "anything" jumps off the spot and hooks. That is why he initially thought nothing was wrong with it. My home house isnt that way so, he saw the difference."

The only thing I am uncertain about and I am not sure if anyone knows is, do different brands, types, and volumes of lane conditioners react differently and play havoc with the coverstocks over time? I would say no but, I am not 100% certain either way. BTW, I bowl on synthetic lanes.

I only have about 30 games on my TNV but the reaction had gotten better not worse so far.  The only concern I have is its already showing signs of a beat up track.   I did use it for a 6 game set this weekend on some fairly burnt wood lanes though, but it did take more of a beating than any of my other equipment.  However, its nothing a sanding and repolish wont reverse though.

The problem im seeing with newer coverstocks like on the TNV and my Black Widow, is that they need a lot more maintenance.  Ive used my Smokin Inferno and Absolute for 2 yrs and they have held up with good cleaning habbits, a soak a couple times a season and a once a year resurface.  So even with a great reaction a ball i have to resurface or extract the oil from every 50 games is going to be hard to hold onto for me.

Im hoping the polish on the TNV will keep the ball from soaking up oil as fast as my dull Widow, so it keeps its reaction between soaks longer.  I also hope that because its rare I bowl on wood that its holds up better on synthetics.

But only time will tell, for now im enjoying the ball and shooting great scores with it.  I dont expect balls to last forever, but would be nice to get least one season out of them
