ok its been awhile, but...
« on: February 02, 2010, 11:41:00 PM »
I am looking to pickm up a new ball and considering between mission and mutant. I have an nvd 4 in pin under drill that i really love. it was my strongest ball now its my benchmark. Straighter ,but still consistent. I like to swing, meaning i am more comfy standing 25 with feet playing up 15 out to ,whatever.Right now my strong ball is a chalk thats great but still,if the lanes are tighter i would like to be able to generate more area and have greater miss room ,( i might hit my mark 3 out of 5 times, shhhh,no laughing).I am really not nearly as bad as i used to be ,haven't thrown but a few gutters this season.
Any way, thinking of setting which ever i get up just like the nvd.Just wondering if that would be a good set up or should i drill it weaker than the nvd. I dont see a ton of oil,but yesterday i did play on a shot where i couldnt get far enough right to carry the ten with any ball. I am 4and 5/16overand a half up. 14 mph or so and minimum revs.Any positive thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

Mission would be my vote.. Drilled in a stacked position would be a great drilling for you as you have low revs and low ball speed. If you can get your hands on a mission.. grab one. I can say that my ebonite magic action was stronger then my mutant by 3-5 boards. I was speaking to a pba ball rep on xtra frame (Twig), and he informed me that the mission would be a good 2-3 boards stronger then the magic action drilled the same, and a bit earlier. Now if you want something that will open up the lanes for you, you may consider going with a more skid flip drilling (pin over) so the ball will get down the lane and snap on the backend. Either way the mission is the better of the two. Now if you were talking the new invasion.. that might be closer!

Hmm..Lets see what I have in this bag..The Corner of a Jigsaw, 3.5 percent of a C-System, a Nasty Spider, and a green Avalanche.. how can I lose....

....HG-300(2006 w/Desert Heat)...299 (03/15/09 w/Agent Orange)...HS-776 (Hot Sauce Pearl & Ebonite Magic)

MISSION ALL THE WAY...i have sold a good amount of mutants through the shop and practically all of them are about 5-8 boards straighter after 10-15 games...i have almost 100 on both of my Missions and neither has lost anything and i havent touched the surfaces since the day i drilled them...the invasion is taking the place of the VG, they roll very similar but the invasion is a touch stronger...being that Missions are on backorder through distributors as of Monday and they didnt ship until yesterday...this ball is going to be a beast...i ordered 5 for my shop (thats all they had left!) and have sold 4 and I dont even get them until tomorrow

Depends on the overall ball motion you want. I''ve yet to throw the Mission, but it seems to follow in the line of other Ebonite offerings in terms of raw backend without the cover death issue. As you''ve seen on the last couple of PBA shows it seems very sure footed even on a sport shot.

The Mutant is a stronger version of the original Cell, and what I''ve seen is it covers a few boards more than the original, but it jumps more at the spot than the original Cell.

I prefer the controllability of the the Cell line, but it does look like Ebonite might have something with the Mission. You seem to like Ebonite stuff, so even though I''m still hesistant about cover death, you should give the Mission a try.

As for the other suggestions, if you want something that will hook more than both at a reasonable price point you should really give the Reign of Fire a look.

i saw a guy thro the riegn of fire last night looks very similar to the mission. He has so much more skill than i do that i dont think it would work for me. I was throwing my nvd and he generated a good 10 boards more room than i had. I had a very good look ,but i know in his hands he wouldnt have been able to keep the nvd right of pocket at all.
