Question about new ball purchase
« on: December 27, 2006, 10:26:58 AM »

Just wanting to get some feedback on my purchase of a Ebonite Predator 16#. I have never used a ball like this one before. I currently use a Hammer 16#, older ball.

 Thanks for any info,

 Matt

Those are some reviews on the ball. Looks light a light load particle. I'm sure you could use it for heavier oil depending on the surface and drilling.

User Katel has both of them (you might PM him for details?); here my impressions when I saw him use both and tested both for some shots some time ago:

The Red Sanded Predator is an "old school" particle ball; OOB matte (800 grit?), solid reactive base, porous like a sponge. Great on heavy oil - REAL heavy oil!

The Red Sparkle is a particle pearl, with PET sparkles (was flashy in those days). Comes polished, if I remember correctly. Very even reaction, IMHO much like a today's sheen solid reactive - easy to read on medium to medium-heavy shots OOB.

Both surely are not state-of-the-art anymore, but good balls, especially the Red Sparkle. The Red Sanded is more a niche product when anything else would swim...
