got the one, what about a playmaker?
« on: December 08, 2008, 02:42:45 PM »
so i recently tried my first ebonite ball, remake of the one. all i have to say is this ball is awesome. one of the best all around balls i have had since my BWS in my opinion. however i wanted to try another ebonite ball. was looking into a playmaker. i currently use a emerald vibe drilled with pin above my bridge and cg kicked out to the right, and a roto cell solid drilled close to stacked. the one is drilled same as my vibe, pin above the bridge and mb kicked out. i throw with around 300rpm and around 14-15mph. i don't usually turn the ball a lot but i could if needed. how would the playmaker fit with my current set up? and also what other ball(s) should i look at with ebonite? thanks.

I would assume it would go inbetween the two balls you have now.  It will have a similar reaction to the vibe though... just cover a few more boards.

I found that the playmaker was awfully similar to the one, just a little smoother in the backend.  If the one is slightly more gritty than the playmaker then you shouldn't have any overlap

playmaker is a great ball, I drilled up two one pin up other down.  I have thrown both of them with success on all pba patterns except the shark

I personally think that with your current set up you should be fine without the playmaker.  Unless you're looking for a specific reaction the one and the playmaker are very identical with the same drill, just the one being a touch stonger overall throughout the lane and in the backend.  If you drill the playmaker pin down, it will make it much smoother than your one.  I have one 5" to pap below the bridge and I took it to 2000 abralon, I like it much more than the 4 1/2" pin up.  Its much smoother and easier to control.  Hope this helps

I wonder how close The One pearl would be to the solid???? Playmaker is good ball have mine pin up 4 1/2 pin to pap, it hooks plenty on house shots.

+1....Mine is also 4 1/2. It is 4 1/2 x 3 3/4 with pin under fingers. (almost up to be under bridge) This ball really hooks and is really strong on the backend. It sems to retain all of it's energy for the back end, even when the heads start to go.
