NVS OWNERS - Past / Present - HELP!!??!!
« on: February 27, 2009, 11:52:21 AM »
I have only been bowling for about 4 1/2 months (i used to bowl 19-20 yrs. old)
which is now 30 years ago. I am a down-in bowler, 16MPH, med rev, 5 degree axis
with a PAP of 5 3/4 by 1 1/4 up (note: both these balls layed out thinking the PAP was 5 1/4 by 3/4 up). I have two NVS,layed out as follows :

1st layout- 1" PIN CG both placed in palm under ring finger, mass bias 45*

2nd layout- 3 1/4" PIN 1" above bridge CG placed in palm stacked, MB 45*

The second ball is my go to ball and I want to tinker with the 1st ball. I
am thinking that the way it rolls, really nice arcing motion, that it would
make for a good ball to experiment with to cover med. heavy / heavy patterns.

My question is this, is my reasoning correct? If so, what would be the best
way to adjust the coverstock. I have never adjusted one, so, step by step!!??!!
Would a weight hole in this ball make it more agressive as well??

Thanks in advance for your advice guys/gals.

Well you can only add a weight hole if there is weight to be taken out... I have 400+ revs, 18mph, and my axis is 4 7/16 right by 11/16 up. My pin up NVS is at 4000 abralon and it will handle a fair amount of oil. I would say (you or your pro shop) take the ball down to 1000 abralon, and then back up to 2000 abralon. That should knock the polish off and give the ball a little more bite. But 2000 should keep it clean through the heads and give you a good backend reaction. Love mine when there is medium, medium heavy oil and good friction to be found. Hope this helps...
