The ONE - Altering coverstock
« on: April 18, 2006, 11:20:18 AM »
I had a question for everyone regarding the one coverstock.  I know it comes at 4000 grit polished.  It seems to push a little farther down lane than I like.  what would happen if I sanded to 2000, 1000, or 400 grit and then used ebonites factory finish polish?  Would it get into an earlier roll?  Thanks in advance for the help.

2000 sanded or 4000 sanded are awesome finish, rather than the super polish box finish.  I like my Big one polished better

Go to ebonite.com and click on the one in ball category. Then click on drill instructions. Go to the bottom of the page and it will tell you what each surface adjustment will do as far as length and hook. These are general, alot depends on your revs and ball speed!

I have had 2 nad OOb finish the balls just seemed inconsistent, One time it would recover from the corners , next time it wouldnt..

I decided to try some more surface adjustments. I had it sanded down to 1000 and then polished back to like a mirrow... still no good.

1 more try, I sanded it down to 400 and then polished .. Now i got what i was looking for. The ball still clears the front great and turns the corner like never before. Even if i pull it in the oil it will still bend enough to finish.

I throw the ball pretty hard 19-20 mph and a good amount of revs. So if any of you are thinking about sanding with 400 , I SAY DO IT.. You will not be dispointed... Besides you can always bring it back to 1000 or 2000
