Blast from the past Black Ice!
« on: May 29, 2008, 10:08:31 AM »
Strikes and strikes and strikes!!!!!

After a few rough wed's in my mandatory pots trio, I pulled this baby out. Weakest ball I own, the ths they put out was playing real light! Planned on starting with my avalanche pearl, and never used it at all!

The ice really allowed me to exploit their ths. All the room a hack could ask for! Miss left, miss right, throw a good shot... 260 first game, 160 second *pissed I didn't win a pot, quick transition, knock self out of koth.* 220 third, slow with the speed in the 9th. 279 last game, 12 flush, stone 9 in the 3rd frame...

I found my meal ticket for the summer.

Man, I'm so jealous.  I had one of those a few years back and it was one of the best balls i ever had when i needed to play right of 10.  Someone stole it out the bowling alley's back office.  I've been looking for a new one ever since

Really a great piece, low flare core, strong reactive cover, what more could you ask for? Deff one one of my favorite balls this year. Bang for the buck.

Have you tried to the bash? Same core, slightly diff cover. I may pick one up if I win some $$ and ditch some other equipment.

Pin under middle, small x-hole, all skid, monster backend. I found great success outside of 10 with good speed, break at 5-3, or I could belly it inside of 10 and carry high flush.

Not yet, I have thought about.  I just loved that Trimax cover on that core, it matched up so good.  My brother currently has a bash and it is very mild.  Typical pin up label drill on it.  Maybe one of these days i'll pick one up.

I can understand your awe - those "weaker" older older pieces really shine on THS or medium-dry shots. My Revolution Renegade (a ball from 2000, got it NIB cheap some months ago) is in a similar "weight class", and it is a killer ball. Pushes well down the lane, controllbale but sharp break point, and imperative carry. Not the ball to open up tha lane, but more versatile and overall better than I ever expected. Such pieces, even in current line-ups from the manufacturers, are easily overlooked, even though they have a huge potential.

I loved mine, till it cracked from the middle finger to the x-tra hole in the midding of the last game of a tournament I was bowling..  Still finished with the ball, but retired it when I got home..  Punched up a Neptune to take it's place.

To much oil for this baby.

I'd make the cut if I shot spares, or carried. Sooooo easy to get there, just gotta carry when ya get there.

There's plenty of dry to play out of 10, just bounce it off 5 and you'll be fine.

Was this the ball you were supposed to deliver to Strike King, as thread here shows as being undelivered thus far....
