Attended Demo Day in Deptford NJ
« on: July 30, 2009, 02:13:54 AM »
I went to an Ebonite demo day down at the Brunswick Zone in Deptford NJ yesterday.  Had a great time and everyone there was great!  I also got to meet Jason Couch and spend some time getting feedback on equipment from him.  He is a great guy!  I've met quite a few pros in the last year or so and he really impressed me as a person as well as a bowler!

So I got to test out the following:
Evolve
LaneBreaker
Magic Touch

So here are my initial impressions of each:
Evolve
Smooth surface, clean through the heads, smooth off the breakpoint with fairly strong backend.  I was expecting early strong roll and it went a little longer than I expected.  It still had strong roll which I wouldn't really call flip, but it went fairly long.  Should perform well on longer heavier shots but it probably wouldn't be my first ball out of the bag.  My impression is you'd need something stronger to create some area first, but after that it would be great.  Definitely a benchmark ball for house shot though.  I could see this first out of the bag and last in the bag for a THS.

LaneBreaker
This is going to be the next diamond in the rough much like the gamebreaker.  It was fairly angular and surprisingly earlier than I expected.  It has that polished angular look to it, clean through the heads, doesn't read much of the midlane but reacts to dry immediately and has a very controllable angular look.  Take some 2000 abralon to the surface and you've got a gamebreaker in your hands with more angle.  I was very impressed with this ball!

Magic Touch
This ball for me fit right in between the Evolve and the LaneBreaker.  It had the angularity of the LaneBreaker but the smooth late move of the Evolve.  It didn't check hard off the dry and was very predictable.  I did find however that it struggled to recover well, this was where the LaneBreaker really shined.

It was a great time and if you have a demo day near you I highly recommend it!  I foresee a lot of LaneBreaker balls out there in the future and the Evolve is going to be a winner for all you THS bowlers.

Hope this helps anyone researching the equipment!

Yeah I saw they had a seige but only one which was a shame.  most of the equipment was at lesat ebonite manufactured.  So I'll change the heading of the post.
