BTM and RG ratings for V2 balls?
« on: July 24, 2003, 07:17:51 AM »
Anyone read the ball reviews in the current issue of BTM?
Is it me or are the RG ratings for the two V2 balls confusing?
For the V2 Dry - they indicate the RG value is 3.2 ( on a 1 to 10 scale) and the description says the following "The combination of the high RG and pearl ....."
For the V2 Strong, the RG value listed is 3.4 and the desc is "The super low RG helps this ball to rev up early...."

Perhaps one of these values is a typo -

I think those numbers are a mistake. I hate those relative numbers, since the rest of the world publishes the exact RG on the X & Y axis or at least Min & Max. I think all V2 balls are extremely low RG: 2.45, 2.47, 2.48 in that region, which is 1.2 or 1.5 on their relative scale.
Check the Ebo website for actual numbers.

except for the V2 Strong, which is a little higher at 2.53.....

I would agree, that's the only thing I really don't care for at all with BTM, is the 'relative' numbers......just give it to us, give us the RG and diff please!

BTM has their own system for rating the RG's and Differentials. They ignore what the manufacture says these nos. are and use their own. What BTM says and what the manufacture says will never be the same.

Here is the scale from BTM that they use for RG's. I got this straight from them.

1. = 2.430 to 2.465
2. = 2.466 yo 2.500    low
3. = 2.501 to 2.535

4. = 2.536 to 2.570
5. = 2.571 to 2.605    medium
6. = 2.606 to 2.640

7. = 2.641 to 2.675
8. = 2.676 to 2.710    high
9. = 2.711 to 2.745
10.= 2.746 to 2.780

Check out Lane #1's rg's versus this table and they are really scewed. BTM' numbers appear to represent the high RG for Lane #1. Most of the other stuff I have looked at is pretty close. But they still have discrepancies between balls that are supposed to be the same core.
