Carry problems with the TNV?
« on: February 19, 2007, 03:06:00 AM »
Is anyone else experiencing major carry problems with the TNV?  I bowled for the first time with it in league last night, & while i wont go into what i shot(its sad, & we will leave it at that) my carry was HORRIBLE.  Im the first to admit that i wasnt throwing the ball very well, but it seemed that when i threw a great shot, i would bury the hole & leave a 9 pin, or a ringing/flat 10.  A few times i left a 7-10, & once, i dont know how it happened, but i left a flush 4-6.  I was getting VERY frustrated, but gave the TNV the benefit of the doubt & figured it was the lanes.  So i switched balls & started carrying all sorts of stuff, thru the nose would carry, really light mixers were working great, high flush was 10 in the pit every time.

So my question is, whats the deal?  Ive heard SO much about the TNV having such great carry, while i have what seems to be the worst carrying ball ive ever owned.

part of my problem was that i was throwing the ball horrible, im the first to admit it.  As far as head oil, there was plenty of oil, just too much over/under for me with the TJ drill OOB.  Ive got a used TNV on the way now, drilling #3.  It will definately hook more.

Im trying to decide whether i should take the new 1 to 2000 & keep it for oil, & take the first to 2000 + polish.  Or keep the new 1 OOB cause it will be smoother off the break, & take the first to 1000 for oil.

Decisions decisions.

That is what we all decide. My TNV is in the shop now as I am taking down to 1000 and then polish. It seems to me polish on the ball makes it flip alittle harder when it hits the dry boards. Also I want the ball to store its energy so it will still have its hitting power.I know when i have gone without polish on any ball, it usually hooks no problem, but it has a tendency  to hit alittle weak and leave tens.

The ball has the most carry I have ever seen of any ball I have owned. It's probably the best ball out on the market as of right now.

Shawn, it seems the layout is not matching up with the wood center's conditions.  Hard to find that perfect ball to be perfect for all lane condtions.
