I was testing out some Ebonite equipment..
« on: February 22, 2007, 07:09:10 AM »
and i was a little surprised. (i also threw a Black Widow and No Mercy)

I was playing on a used shot. It's the same pattern that's in my profile, but it's just a LITTLE used from a small league.

Angular One: This ball is insane. I threw it on my normal line, which is standing on 21 throwing out to about 5-8 board. When i threw that exact shot, the ball set up FAST and took off. It actually went past the 1 pin, and this is after i hit about 5-8! I couldn't believe it.. a little too strong.
Drilled Pin ABOVE and between both fingers, and MB right of thumb.

Total NV: I have to say. I was playing the same shot as the Angular One to compare reactions. They both rev up the same, but the Angular One has more overall hook. BUT they both give the same reaction. (in my hands anyways)

NO Mercy: This ball.. well, this ball is amazing when it comes to hook. I actually loved it. For this ball i stood on a different line, just to test out it's hook. I was standing on 35, hitting the same mark, about 5-8. This ball went real long, and actually almost fell in the gutter, but it came right back very strong. I know the pattern is a little used, but i NEVER threw a ball that i can do that with. Amazing!
Drilled #1 Layout

Black Widow: In one word. SMOOOOOTH. This ball, compared to the No Mercy, definetly has less overall hook, which i liked actually. I really liked the Black Widow, best out of all of these balls i listed. I like smooth rolling bowling balls better than the snappy stuff. But this ball isn't just smooth. It's VERY strong, with a nice backend on it. Very controllable, smooth, and nice recovery.
Drilled pin UNDER and between both fingers, CG kicked right, and MB right of thumb.

Well i hope i did at least a LITTLE bit of help with these mini reviews. I don't actually own these balls, but one of my friends (who throws 14 and has the same span) let me try them out. If anyone has any questions, then please ask, and i'll be glad to help on anything. Thanks! (btw, i put down the layouts the best i can, i don't remember them EXACTLY, and i don't remember the Total NV's at all. Sorry)

Well Brian, now you know.  It ain't ALL bad that Ebonite bought out Columbia et al!  I've always had success with Ebo/Hammer stuff.  If you like smooth, try to get ahold of a PAIN to throw.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...
