Champion Surface question?

So i purchased An Ebonite Champion last week. MY question is this!
The shop drilled it up before i got there and actually made a surface change to 4000 and took off the OOB poilsh. SO i told the shop i actually wanted left at OOB first. so he just polished it back up.

Now OOB is 500, 500, 500, 1500 – Polished with Power House Factory Finish Ball Polish.

Would 4000 then polish make a huge difference?
Also what is a 500,500, 500 , 1500? is that 3 stages of 500 abralon?

4000 plus the shine will be much weaker than the 1500 and polish, and yes it's 3 stages of 500 grit in our 4 stage process, oob you can see a lot of lines under the shine. It's an amazing ball at any surface, I've used the from box to 1000 sanded and they all roll fantastic. We have a real amazing rock with this one!!

What process consists of the 3 stages of 500, 500, 500.?
DO you take it down to 500 wash it off, 500 again wash it off, 500 again wash it off, then do 1500 wash it off, then polish?

I kind of noticed with my 4000 polish one that's it goes pretty long and not as much snap i was looking for. ill have my shop do the process once i know how its done.

Don't know much about the champion.But usually when i go 4000 polished and I'm not getting much backend it is because i used too much polish and or too much pressure....i try to use a dime size amount and almost no pressure when applying the polish this gives me length and much more backend reaction usually....

All balls go through 4 stages of sanding at the factory, so the first three stops are 500 and the 4th stop is 1500. Every ball goes through 4 stages just usually they go higher grits, were startin to use lower grits more on the newer balls

I have a feeling this ball is using the same finishing process as the one talked about when Hammer released the First Blood.  They've slowed down the buffers from 1000 rpm to around 400 rpm and have started using less polish.

I guess they finally started listening to tour level players that are after performance and not shelf appeal.
