No Limit Layout.

For an old guardain + wood center, 2nd shift and high friction early and right, with head oil at a premium, how does this layout sound on a No Limit? I am a high rev player, with moderate tilt:


Pin to PAP distance = 6"
Mass Bias to PAP distance = 4 1/2"
Pin height above the midline of the grip = 3"

Comments please?

I had a No Limit, but with a much different layout.  For the conditions you describe, it sounds like a good layout.  Mine was pin down, 4-1/4" from PAP with the MB at 45 degrees.  I didn't like the OOB finish, but it was much better at both 2000 and 4000 Abralon.  Don't be afraid to make a surface change with the ball.

its a jumpy ball off the spot.  mine died after 100 games, and after resurfacing and all, i cant get the reaction like before.  but it was my go-to ball during most of last year.  but with that layout should be pretty angular.

I heard the opposite from almost everyone that has owned one.  I've heard the ball is super smooth for the higher rev rates...

I think that depends on the bowler/release.  Mines as smooth as silk (I mean REALLY smooth).

his pap being 5 1/2" x 1/8" is almost as close as mine 5 3/4"x 1" up.  so its telling me he is a high tracker.  not to mention he says he has 400+ revs.  meaning he is a cranker.  and with a 6" pin to pap, that ball is going to store energy down the lane than pop on the backend.

While my PAP has slightly changed (5 1/4 x 1/2), I think you may be right. Putting a huge flaring ball with a drilling to delay the hook so much, I think this ball may have a large amount of hook on the backend, I was merely going on what I was informed when I inquired about the ball.

Holes galore!

We have holes in this thing, and I modified what I mentioned.  I went with a 3 1/2" pin-midline, to keep the pin away from the fingers.  Since i was making this longer, I then went from 6" to 5 1/2" pin-PAP.  MB still 4 1/2.  This ended up as almost the standard Ebonite #1 layout.  Pin over bridge, MB next to thumb.  The MB is 3" from my VAL.

Seems to have nailed the reaction on the head.  Easy length, and when the ball gets to the spot you can tell it flares a whole bunch for such a long pin-pap distance. Smooth but strong once it does get there, and the hit seemed impressive, but then again they all hit hard nowadays.  

I'll throw up a picture and results when I get to use it on the intended conditions Friday night.

glad to see it went well.  ya i loved my no limit.  been looking for another.  all i keep finding is 14lbers.

Perfect. The ball reaction allowed me to play in the head oil WAY left, and keep the flare until the latter parts of the lane.  Love it.
