Gravity Shift and the Mission
« on: February 12, 2010, 04:52:46 PM »
Hey folks.  Recently, one of my favorite balls cracked  It was 4.5 by 4.5 Gravity Shift, with a ~2 inch pin buffer, pin over ring.  The GS is under warranty and also discontinued, so I need to find a replacement.  I REALLLLY like the looks of this Mission ball.

Has anybody thrown these two balls and if so, what is your take on it?

Anybody with experience polishing this ball?

No comparison. Mission covers more boards and is more angular than the Gravity Shift. You may want to consider a Virtual Energy. For me it has a closer reaction as does the Second Dimension.

You are welcome. I posted pics of my Mission, and I can tell you, on our house shot, there is just not enough oil for this ball to shine. I went to another house, affectionately called the "soupbowl", because they put out so much more oil than the other houses in this area, and shot the lights out with my Mission. Great ball, but for the average THS, I would suggest a weak pin under drilling, to even the reaction out and make it useable.

Another thought on the Mission.  Stay with the strong drilling then take it to 4000 Abralon.  I did that last night with mine and shot 783 with it after shooting 650 out of box surface (2000).

Thanks Phoneman,

I think I will try the 4000, and see how it plays on the THS.

I own two of these bad boys now.  Don't be afraid to
polish the Mission if your house is to dry.  This ball may
be the new V2 for Ebonite.  I believe with the right surface
prep this ball will work on a multitude of conditions.
