Ebonite Evolve
« on: October 19, 2009, 09:25:38 AM »
I don't see too many of these in life or in theads, was this ball another flop like the Striking Motion? I'm trying to decide between an Evolve or a Full Swing, and I don't see a lot of data to compare.

Evolve is great, but I think the full swing is alot better.  Could win ball of the year

I think the main thing with it is that the Evolve just came out at a bad time. Alot of good equipment has come out and ive seen quite a few people straying away from Ebonite.

Back on topic, from what I have seen the Evolve is a very good piece with great continuation that i havent seen recently in most of Ebonite's products

The Striking Motion is actually a very good ball, just not the hook monster it was marketed as. I have mine at 5" pin to PAP and 70* mb placement at 4000 plus polish and it is a very nice ball for mediums. Clean through the fronts with a strong but not sideways move down the lane. One of the better hitting balls I have thrown recently as well.

Full Swing looks to be more dynamic in the last 15 feet, the Evolve is more controlled. Depends on what reaction you are looking for.

I like the Evolve you just have to make sure your on the right surface to use it as it need some friction to work, the ball hits like a truck.

The evolve is a very good ball. It just didn't seem to react as advertised. The ball goes long and is very smooth reaction. Not for high volumes of oil.

the evovle is definately not the ball they advertised. its still a good ball for medium oil but anything more than that and you will be watching it slide into the 3pin. get a little of the oil burnt up and it hits very hard

Ball is not bad but because of the high RG not
- a high volume of oil ball
- for my style unsuitable

Thanks for the info guys, they sound different enough to have both of them in my bag.

Looks like the Evolve will be a nice comedown ball from the Full Swing, looking forward to drilling them both.

i would have to say its a great ball, i was fortunate enough to have one given to me and the week i punched it up i shot 826 and i have tacked on two more 800's with it since and a 300, plus a top ten finish at a scratch tournament in orlando, all in about a month and half or so. But i agree its not as big a hook monster as it was promoted as.

I got mine at 1000+shine.  It certainly isn't an oil monster like that but I'm sure if I hit with 1000 or 500 grit it would roll just fine on heavy oil.

The fact that a lot of the Ebonite balls are surfaced at 4000 gives you a lot of play with the cover for heavier conditions.

hi, was thinking of getting this ball too.  Would you guys say its similar to the Big One in oil handling capacities and sidewards movement.

Sorry if this seems like hijacking the thread.

I love my Evolve. I don't throw with many revs but I still get a ton of hook with this ball even on heavy oil.

at out of the box, 4000, with my evolve I got a lot of late reaction, on medium patterns it was a beast, but that is not what I got the ball for. I took the ball down to 1000 and it rolls very nice in heavy oil now, still not a hook monster at all, but it has a very smooth mid-lane roll and just rolls all the way through the deck.

As far as hook is concerned I have not seen a full swing yet, but you have got to love the reaction the Virtual Gravity gives you, as far as hook is concerned.
