Cracked ball PU what a stink!
« on: April 14, 2007, 01:03:24 AM »
Well last night while I was a sleep, my Nitro R/2 Classic
decided to split down the side.(In fact thinking about it,
I think it cracked this morning. I was sitting here at the
computer and thought I heard something, coming from the
the direction of my ball carrier.)

Ok I had it for 2yrs, but it was still a great ball.
I thought well I'll crack it in half and take a look inside.
So I stuck a screwdriver in the crack, hit with a hammer a
couple of times split it right in half.

MY GOD what a STINK! the chemical smell from the core almost
made me puke. Its aired out some now and still stinks.

Going to see if I can get one of the pucks out of it.

A rat must of died in it, because bowling balls don't usually have an aroma.

Bowling balls do to smell, they smell when being drilled and after they crack.  I've had balls crack on me and then I've cracked a few of my old ones.  They do to smell.  What can I say it happens because of a weakspot the balls finds and the pressure just blows it apart from hitting the lane and pins.

I have noticed this also, we had an old Ebonite and an old Brunswick ball brought in with minor cracking and they just gave them to the shop. They sat around for a bit and finally cracked all the way and had just a putrid smell coming from them for days, they were thrown outside to air out but after a week of stench they were thrown away.
