Do you guys believe now?
« on: March 14, 2007, 12:41:39 AM »
I posted this tidbit of info on the TNV back on 12/22/06.

I emailed a staffer today who threw the seed ball and he says:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I am not hyping up anything....but this ball WILL change ball reaction and carry as we know it. I threw 10 games today on a house shot and had a low game of 224. I had a 289, two 299s and a 298 all in that stretch. I even threw a few shots thumbless, yet the read stayed predictable in the midlane and it hooked the same, just finished alot stronger. I then went to another pair with the Long Junior Gold sport pattern and averaged 251 on it. I had zero error for room with my No Limit, One and Infinite One, but I could miss 3 right with the TNV and still come in strong enough for a strong messenger. Imagine combining the XXXCel with the Angular One, then a ball that finishes 3 times as hard! The way this ball carries hits is phenominal. It isn't really the hook potential that will wow everyone, but the strength and continuation at the pindeck that it has. Alot of old timers will be upset when everyone who buys this gets an extra 10-15 sticks in average. This will be one of the biggest releases of the post resin era."

Seems like ever since the release it's been a literal heatwave of ridiculously high scoring from everyone that seems to use this ball.  Would anyone now agree with the above statements?

Agreed, not the big hooker, but.......

It retains more energy for the backend than ANTHING I have ever seen!!

Yes, a medium-condition ball, but enough to carry very good on soaked conditions.

Everyone's report on high scores says enough, believe the ball is God or not, it's still a ridiculous ball to mostly everyone who owns it.

my $0.02

btw, I haven't had to be that accurate with this ball yet...  I can't even imagine my high series when I am...

Yeah, I'm sure it was 100% the ball. :/ If I ever get this ball it will be when it is discontinued and at a huge discount.  Until then, I will laugh at how everyone says the Total NV is the greatest ball.  There is a tournament coming up that has the Total NV ball come with the entry fee.  $185 for the total entry fee.  What a joke.  I am doing the tournament but saying NO THANKS to the Total NV.

Bowling balls are only tools; any reactive ball will give more forgiveness to the average bowler simply because of the increased momentum the ball generates at the backend and because of the sharper angle to the pocket, nothing more.

Striking is about the angle the ball takes to the pocket more than anything else.  If you create enough angle, you can use any ball and strike often, yes, even a plastic ball if you can create enough angle.  This is proven fact.

I remember when the cuda and piranha came out back in the 90s, everyone was saying the same thing they're saying about the total NV.  I own an NV and it's a nice ball, it recovers faster than most balls I've seen, but nothing so special that scores are going to skew upward for anyone who uses one.

Just my opinion.

Well said.  And reasons for my "anti-love" for the Total NV:

1) Way too much hype and commercialism for a ball that if that great, should sell itself - not with all this hype
2) It's a MEDIUM oil shooting ball which means there are 100's of others that do the same thing
3) The ball doesn't hook, the bowler makes it hook.  Watch what great players use at tournaments (not PBA ones where everyone gets sponsored and has the top balls) and you will see them use everything from plastic to high-performance.  All of them are good.  If you got power and strength, you can make any ball hook.
4) Waiting for a true HEAVY OIL condition of the Total NV.  I am waiting to LOL as the Total NV skids all the way to the pins.  Sick of watching THS get worked by this ball and calling it Ball of the Year.
5) Give me a break.

IMHO, the carry on this ball is what's most impressive to me.  It has yet to really puzzle me in terms of a carry scenario.  It's a bit more jumpy off of the dry that I had thought with the drilling I chose.  However, I'm gonna hit it with some minor surface adjustments this week with 2000 or 4000 abralon pads.  If need be, I'll always be able to adjust back up with a little polish if I think the ball is expending too much energy before entering the pindeck.  In any event, buy it, don't buy it, it makes me no nevermind.  This is the first ball since the Absolute Inferno that I've thought about buying a few extras for additional drilling layouts or simply spare product for the future.

A vote from me for the Total NV as the best ball ever made!!

However a burnt out track area and 8-board out of bounds made me pick up my Vortex III TPS yesterday, shot 675 - 206 with my Strike Zone, then 225, 244.

Go Ebonite!!
