Geez...I can only afford 3 new balls or so a year and my new Playmaker looks like it is a year old after only 4 games and 2 frames on it.
I got it drilled Tuesday and rolled 3 games trying it out. The lanes were like a desert, so I couldn't do much with it since it started hooking just past the arrows that day, so I quit after 3 games.
A group of us seniors always get together every Thursday for 3 pot games. Today when I got up to bowl in the 3rd frame of the second game, my Playmaker was missing. Then some of the other bowlers noticed their balls were missing also, so we called the lane man about the problem. He went back and found 6 balls humg up in the back. Two were mine...Playmaker and XXXL. Both came back damaged. They were the only balls of the 6 that got damaged. The brand new Playmaker had a deep gouge about 2 1/2" long x 1 1/4" wide x 1/8" deep ........ the XXXL had 2 rows of notches 1/4" long x 1/8" wide x 1/16" deep about 1/2" apart with a space of about 2" between the two rows all around the entire circumference of the ball.
To fix the XXXL, they will have to sand off at least 1/16" of the entire cover.
To fix the new Playmaker, they are going to have to plug it and the worse part about this is the damage is in the ball track. Pretty upsetting to see this happen to a brand new ball. I showed the manager that the damage to Playmaker is in the track and he said that's OK, it won't hurt the balls performance, happens sometimes.
My question is....will a plugged area this large in the track effect the ball?
