If I'm not mistaken the first layout doesn't have any pin to pap measurements, so it is a rather inexact drill designed to give most bowlers a decent look. If one takes it to mean a 5" layout then we may compare it to the second. Like J Mac said, the first layout should get down the lane better due to the higher pin and also be more angular on the backend as a result. I'd personally go with the first layout as the NVS itself should be quite strong. If there is a mistake that one can make with the Ebonite high end it is putting the pin in too strong a location. These are perhaps the strongest reactive pearls on the market, but they may also, due to the ammount of friction, be the earliest reacting.
